Senior Director for Federal and State Government Affairs
The Sabre Legal organization seeks a highly motivated, experienced Senior Director for Federal and State Government Affairs in Washington DC, reporting to the VP for Global Government Affairs. This position will play a critical role in increasing Sabre’s prominence at all levels of national and state government, shaping Sabre’s US public policy and regulatory strategy to help the Company advance its objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Sabre’s strategies for federal and state government affairs
- Influence, monitor, and analyze key federal and state legislation, regulations, and other political developments relevant to Sabre and advise on how best to navigate potential impacts to the business
- Coordinate with Global Government Affairs to formulate Sabre’s worldwide positions on issues and engage with elected officials and other policy makers, agencies, and other important external stakeholders at all levels of government and industry
- Report on critical federal and state government affairs developments to the Sabre senior leadership team
- Formulate strategies to best grow and utilize the Sabre PAC
- Influence policy and build alliances to advocate for Sabre’s interests
- Prepare communications for use by Sabre executives, work with them to engage directly with key government constituents and thought leaders, and plan for their visits to Washington and key states
- Develop opportunities for Sabre executives to participate in public private partnerships
- Assist with investigations, inquiries, and other interactions with government agencies or personnel
- Represent the Company with trade associations and interest groups to influence their direction and priorities to align with Sabre
- Tap into US trade programs to increase Sabre’s export success
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of government affairs experience, Congressional liaison experience, or as counsel or senior staff for relevant committees of jurisdiction
- Experience in the travel industry or technology sector is highly preferred
- Proven success at representing a global company before government at the national level
- Established participant in trade associations, or direct experience working directly with trade associations as a member of government
- Established track record of building relationships across different Administrations
- Registration as a federal lobbyist

- Ability to analyze complex issues, understand competing interests and synthesize disparate information for internal and external audiences
- Strong leadership skills and executive presence
- Willingness to roll up sleeves and a team-player attitude
Located or willing to relocate to Washington D.C.
