Political Coordinator
The Texas Freedom Network (TFN) seeks a full-time Political Coordinator based in Austin, Texas. TFN is a statewide non-partisan, grassroots organization that is building an informed and effective movement working toward equality and social justice.
The Political Coordinator will assist the Political Director in developing and implementing TFN’s electoral and policy strategy both on a statewide and local level, and coordinate between TFN programs and departments. The primary responsibilities of the Political Coordinator will be to oversee the endorsement process for races at all levels, policy and electoral research, building relationships with elected officials and partner organizations. The Political Coordinator should be passionate about advancing equality and social justice, collaborative teamwork, and advocating for local policy changes through research and coalition work. The Political Coordinator will report directly to the Political Director.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting the Political Director in developing and implementing strategy for local, state legislative, State Board of Education, and other issue-based advocacy campaigns.
- Supporting the Political Director in developing and implementing the legislative strategy for TFN. This includes policy research, lobbying, and facilitating testimony recruitment.
- Serving as a liaison to bridge strategy among TFN departments and programs, including Texas Rising and Just Texas programs.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with partner organizations by building individual relationships and representing TFN in various coalition settings.
- Assisting in building relationships with elected officials at all levels of government.
- Helping manage TFN’s local election campaigns, including researching the lay-of-the-land in potential key areas to assess TFN’s role.
- Working with TFN staff on the ground to advocate for local policy changes through research, coalition work, GOTV, and other support.
- Administering TFN and Texas Rising’s endorsement process for candidates at all levels of government.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Well organized, resourceful and persistent.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the progressive values, mission and goals of the organization.
- Highly motivated self-starters who are able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Able to coordinate with others well and be effective communicators.
- Ideally have 1-2 years working in a non-profit organization or on a political campaign.
Benefits:
- Salary: $50,000 – $55,000 (depending on experience).
