### About the Role
Successful navigation of the policy landscape is critical to deploying and scaling a business. Samsara is looking to grow its Policy and Government Relations team by adding an experienced, agile, and capable policy manager to represent the company at the state and local levels. Our team works closely with trade associations, lawmakers, regulatory agencies, and industry experts to proactively engage in initiatives that advance Samsara’s business interests. Internally, our efforts support innovative work across the business, including the engineering, product, strategy, legal, and partnerships teams. The ideal candidate will enjoy serving as a key contributor on a diverse range of substantive advocacy initiatives, aid in identifying opportunities for engagement, developing creative strategies and content, and representing Samsara externally to key stakeholders in and out of government.

### In This Role, You Will
– Help develop and execute policy strategies that advance Samsara’s business goals at the state and local level
– Identify and track proposed bills, regulations, and policy positions across U.S. states that are relevant to Samsara, assessing their potential impact and helping develop responsive strategies for engagement
– Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant policymakers, regulatory officials, first responders, and other key external stakeholders, and track the level of engagement
– Assist with filings, comments, testimony, and other input for legislative committees and regulatory bodies
– Work closely with the public sector and sales teams at the state and local level to affect adoption and usage of Samsara’s technologies
– Collaborate with other Samsarians in the creation of content (collateral, blog posts, etc.) that articulate Samsara’s vision and values through its products and services, in a manner that is compelling to policymakers
– Champion, role model, and embody Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
### Minimum Requirements for the Role
– Bachelor’s degree required, postgraduate degree in a relevant field preferred
– 5+ years of relevant public policy, political, and/or government experience and an in-depth understanding of the policymaking process and government relations
– Demonstrated knowledge and experience in government affairs and advocacy (e.g., legislative wins, relationships with officials, involvement with third parties, etc.)
– Skilled at persuasively and diplomatically advocating complex policy positions before a wide variety of audiences
– Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to concisely summarize policy issues and advocacy points
– Experience managing multiple high-priority projects simultaneously in a fast-moving, quickly changing environment, both collaborating with a team and working solo
– Ability to thrive in new situations, learn quickly, jump in, and responsibly manage one’s own time and deliverables in a remote work environment
– Teammate with a strong willingness to pitch in as necessary
– Highly organized, flexible, and detail-oriented
– Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
### An Ideal Candidate Also Has
– Passion for and knowledge of emerging technology and related public policy issues
– Experience in government, in advocacy, or in-house on issues facing highly regulated industries
– Knowledge and experience with privacy, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, or other public policy issues related to data-driven industries
– Knowledge of future of work, labor, and workforce development policy issues
– Willingness to address unexpected challenges in new areas and get up to speed on potentially unfamiliar subject matter
– The ability to effectively translate government to business, and business to government
### Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy
Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver Total Direct Compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is at or above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs) for eligible roles. For eligible roles, a new hire RSU award may be awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually.
We pay for performance, and top performers in eligible roles may receive above-market equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.
The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
$79,730—$134,000 USD
