#### About Us

West and Southeast REALTORS® of the Valley (WeSERV) is a member-driven, not-for-profit organization that serves and provides resources and education to members to foster community and business growth. With the success of each member in mind, the association, led by an elected Board of Directors along with committee volunteers comprised of WeSERV members, works with the member service team to create a community of successful REALTORS® dedicated to high standards, protecting private property rights, and effectively influencing the public policy.

The Director of Government Affairs manages and administers local governmental affairs activities for the association supporting the real estate industry. This person monitors political, legislative, and regulatory issues affecting the commercial, land, and residential real estate industries in the jurisdiction of WeSERV (Currently in Cochise County, Pinal County, Santa Cruz County, and the West and Southeast areas of Maricopa County). They are part of the association’s government affairs unit and are responsible for advocacy activities and relationships with local and county elected officials and staff. They identify, monitor, and advocate for political activities that affect REALTOR® positions and advise the general membership and volunteer leadership concerning these matters. They oversee WeSERV’s REALTORS of Arizona Political Action Committee (RAPAC). This position also includes coordination with the National Association of REALTORS® and Arizona REALTORS®.

#### Work Activities

– Develop and implement, in cooperation with the Chief Executive Officer, a comprehensive government affairs strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and priorities.
– Interacting with members and the public in written and verbal communication channels.
– Building positive relationships with members and outside stakeholders.
– Analyzing data or information to assist the communication department in spreading WeSERV’s message.
– Maintain a broad understanding of federal, state, and local political issues affecting the real estate industry in the WeSERV jurisdiction.
– Track proposed laws and rules impacting land use policy and the real estate industry.
– Broaden members’ awareness of political and policy matters through newsletters, website articles, video updates, social media, and presentations at brokerage meetings, membership meetings, or other speaking opportunities.
– Represent the organization at government hearings, meetings, and events to articulate its positions and influence decision-makers.
– Promote grassroots political involvement by REALTORS® through online advocacy and personal engagement.
– Create and execute a fundraising plan for RAPAC, including communications, special events, and the recruitment and training of RAPAC Committee Members and Trustees.
– Coordinate interviewing candidates for local public office and assist the RAPAC committee in selecting and recommending candidates to receive WeSERV and RAPAC support.
– Coordinate with the Arizona Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS® Government Affairs staff on issues and activities as needed.
– Comply with registration and reporting requirements of local governments, the state, and the Campaign Finance Commission regarding lobbying and PAC activities.
– Serve as the liaison to the WeSERV Government Affairs Committee and RAPAC Committee and provide staff support, including preparation of agendas, minutes, and other materials.
– Manage and mentor staff in the government affairs unit of WeSERV.
– Ability to work with volunteer leadership and staff in coordinating events, meetings, and visits to local municipalities.
– From time to time, perform presentations to the WeSERV Board of Directors, Chapter Councils, and Executive Committee regarding political issues and candidate endorsements.
– Maintain flexibility in the organizing, planning, and prioritizing of work.

#### Physical Requirements

– **Physical Demands**: The employee spends most of the day seated. Occasionally, the employee will stand, walk, kneel, crouch, or reach with hands and arms.
– **Hearing**: The employee is frequently talking or hearing.
– **Vision**: Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
– **Speaking**: Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
– **Lifts Weight or Exerts Force Work Environment**: The employee occasionally lifts objects that weigh no more than 25 pounds.
– **Travel Requirements**: The employee may be required to attend various state and national activities, including the Arizona REALTORS® Convention, Arizona REALTORS® Caucus, National Association of REALTORS® Mid-Year meetings, National Convention, Government Affairs Director Conference, and the Arizona REALTORS® and National Association of REALTORS® Government Affairs Training. The employee may also be required to travel within the Association Jurisdiction and State of Arizona as needed.

**Job Type**: Full-time

**Pay**: $80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
