### Position Overview

In this role, you will:
– Report to the Senior Director, Government Relations.
– Work with other government relations colleagues to coordinate Pew’s domestic policy and advocacy work.
– Collaborate with colleagues across multiple fiscal and health policy areas to design and implement cohesive outreach and advocacy efforts.
– Serve as a liaison to Pew’s environment and government performance portfolios, lead the planning of special events, and conduct political research and analysis.
As part of the Government Relations team’s efforts to bring Pew’s work to the attention of federal, state, and local policymakers, the Associate I will provide primary support to the government performance embed team(s) and help facilitate coordination across Pew’s domestic programmatic work.
The position, based in Pew’s Washington, DC office, will participate in Pew’s core in-office days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and will have flexibility to work from home the remainder of the week.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the country for which they are seeking employment without visa sponsorship.
### Responsibilities
– Supporting efforts across the government performance portfolio to engage and share Pew’s research and analyses with influential organizations at the state, local, and national levels.
– Assist with cross-cutting engagement support to meet programmatic objectives including facilitating jurisdictional coordination and outreach support for projects across program at the state, local, and federal levels.
– Serving as the primary coordinator and liaison for projects to share information about campaigns, identify and socialize emerging opportunities for collaboration, and develop cohesive strategies across the domestic portfolio.
– Supporting Pew organized convenings and other programming that features multiple projects including working closely with communications and partnerships teams.
– Conduct political, policy, and stakeholder research to help inform the development of engagement strategies at the state, local, and federal levels.
– Collaborating with GR embeds to identify and evaluate opportunities for projects to engage with state, regional, or national organizations to help Pew’s programmatic work reach key audiences. This work will include working across external affairs, specifically with the senior director, strategy and operations, to develop and manage sponsorship opportunities.
– Maintain general awareness and knowledge of timely issues on behalf of the projects within the government performance portfolio. This will include legislative tracking, news monitoring, and policy landscape analyses.
– Research and identify policymakers and other influential stakeholders relevant to particular timely issue areas.
### Requirements
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
– Generally, one year of professional experience.
– Previous Capitol Hill experience and/or knowledge of Congressional process preferred.
– Knowledge and experience using Salesforce preferred.
– Strong written and oral communications skills.
– Team player with experience working in groups and across departments to meet goals and assist others.
– Strong organizational skills, with experience prioritizing, communicating clearly, meeting tight deadlines, and anticipating needs.
– Experience coordinating meetings and time-sensitive projects.
– Asks appropriate questions and requests assistance from teammates and superiors to facilitate high-quality, timely work.
### Travel
Minimal travel expected.
### Salary Range
$60,400 USD – $67,500 USD
The salary range represents a reasonable estimate of the annual salary based on Pew’s commitment to provide equitable and market-competitive pay. The actual salary offered will take into consideration many factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills and experience, internal pay equity, and business need.
