Job Summary

The Congressional Lobbyist is a congressional affairs position within the Division of Government and Public Affairs and is located in Washington, DC. The incumbent shall be responsible for advocating the legislative priorities of the Association.

Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of five years’ experience as a Lobbyist or as a Congressional or political party staff person
  • Experience developing and implementing legislative, lobbying, and political strategies
  • In-depth knowledge of Congress and the legislative process
  • Hill experience with particular knowledge of major Congressional health committees, health associations, and federal healthcare issues
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral/written communication, and analytical skills
  • Established relationships with Members of Congress and their staff
  • Ability to respond to legislative changes, develop alternative legislative approaches, and political strategies
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Availability for evenings/weekends for work/meetings and occasional travel

Nice to Have:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., Law degree, Master’s degree)
  • Experience with Teams and Online Congressional Directory, e.g., Politico
