Senior Vice President, Program Partnerships, Campaigns, and Advocacy

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Senior Vice President of Share Our Strength’s Program Partnerships, Campaigns, and Advocacy work is responsible for developing and implementing results-driven strategies that leverage partnerships, programmatic expertise, government relations, advocacy, and communications to maximize access and participation in federal nutrition programs and policies that increase economic mobility. This role is central to building a movement to end childhood hunger.

The Senior Vice President is a critical program leader establishing priorities and adapting strategies focused on urgency, equity, and impact. As part of the executive team, this individual provides both programmatic expertise and strategic counsel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to end childhood hunger in the United States through partnerships, campaigns, and government relations.
  • Manage a combined multi-million-dollar budget.
  • Lead a high-performing team, providing direction, goals, and communication on key issues, while fostering professional development for team members.
  • Oversee all advocacy efforts on state and federal legislative priorities.
  • Execute programmatic priorities, building partnerships with non-profit and political leaders at the local and national levels.
  • Direct and implement No Kid Hungry campaigns, ensuring campaigns meet key milestones and expand proven models to other geographies.
  • Build coalitions with nonprofits, corporations, government agencies, and community organizations to increase participation in federal nutrition programs.
  • Serve as spokesperson for the organization, managing relationships at the federal, state, and local levels.
  • Collaborate with the Communications and Resource Development and Growth teams to lead movement-building efforts, ensuring clear communication with diverse stakeholders and supporting fundraising efforts.
  • Work with the Center for Best Practices to share and apply best practices across partners.
  • Represent the Program Team’s interests on the Executive Team, coordinating efforts with other internal departments.
  • 25% travel required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years of work experience, with 5-7 years of people management experience.
  • Proven experience managing a large team and leading integrated campaigns, including political and grassroots relationships, communications, and fundraising.
  • Experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and running national programs implemented through partnerships.
  • In-depth expertise in hunger and poverty-related policies, with experience in advocacy efforts.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with experience working with elected officials and community leaders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a proven track record of achieving results through persuasion and collaboration.
  • Highly effective in a fluid, entrepreneurial environment, with strong judgment and emotional intelligence.
