Summary

Are you passionate about the intersection of Latinidad, social justice, and youth culture? Are you quick on your feet and able to create Instagram Reels and TikTok videos in a timely manner? Are you interested in cultivating a young Latino following that skews toward civic engagement? Do you know how to measure the success of this work with analytics? If so, we’re interested in you for the role of Social Media Producer, where you will focus on the day-to-day posting across Voto Latino’s social media channels.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pitch and create daily written and visual content for VL’s social media channels.
  • Script, shoot, and edit videos for Instagram and TikTok.
  • Be comfortable on-camera.
  • Conduct research on news stories and fact-check information.
  • Stay ahead of social media trends (on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok).
  • Ensure all social content aligns with VL audience engagement goals.
  • Analyze content performance metrics and adjust strategy accordingly.
  • Assist the Social Media Director in planning and executing social media plans for major VL campaigns and events.
  • Travel as needed, at least once per quarter.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience producing social media content across major platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; bilingual in Spanish is a big plus.
  • Strong research and fact-checking skills.
  • Basic iPhone camera shooting and editing skills.
  • Ability to simplify complicated subjects into digestible content.
  • Experience monitoring social channels for content opportunities and trends.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members to integrate messaging across communication platforms.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and awareness of Latino civil rights and/or issues of social justice.
  • Familiarity with politics.
  • Experience with Social Sprout or other analytics software.
  • Some Adobe Photoshop and Premiere experience; Illustrator and After Effects preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt.

Note: You will be asked to show work examples of your previous social media content.


Salary and Benefits

  • Salary: $55,000–$65,000 annually, depending on experience.
  • Competitive benefits, including health insurance and paid vacation leave.
  • Full-time employment position.

Location

  • Work is mostly remote, with occasional in-person needs.
  • Voto Latino is based in Washington, D.C. Preference will be given to candidates based in or willing to relocate to the Washington, D.C. area, though flexibility is available for the right candidate.
