Base Salary Range

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $176,000 – $220,000.

Job Summary

This position reports to the Vice President, Government Relations in Washington, D.C., and is responsible for government relations policy across Avangrid.

Major Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identify, track, influence, and advise the company on policy and political matters of interest.
  • Promote the interests of Avangrid before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, and other related agencies.
  • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with public officials and their staffs.
  • Work collaboratively with internal subject matter experts, including Avangrid’s utilities and legal team, to develop and implement strategies to achieve successful outcomes, particularly at FERC.
  • Coordinate with the Federal Relations team to develop and implement political and policy strategies supportive of Avangrid’s business plans.
  • Represent Avangrid in industry coalitions and trade associations.
  • Plan and attend relevant stakeholder and government meetings and events.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President, Government Relations.
  • Some travel may be required.

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of energy policy or related experience.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong oral, written, and presentation-related communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work effectively on an individual basis and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with federal political and senior career officials.
  • Experience working on matters related to power markets, particularly NYISO and ISO-NE, is preferred but not required.
