🎯 The Role: Description
The Policy Analyst at TPPF demonstrates expertise in a particular subject matter area and focuses on pursuing policy research related to their area of expertise to advance our mission to promote and defend liberty, personal responsibility, and free enterprise. This position will conduct in-depth research, develop policy recommendations, and advocate for reforms that fortify individual liberty against government encroachment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Research and Analysis: Conduct rigorous and original research relevant to their area of expertise, which could be education reform, local government policy, healthcare reform, family policy, or another specific issue within the TPPF portfolio (found here). Analyze legislative and regulatory proposals at the state and federal levels.

Policy Development: Develop comprehensive policy recommendations that align with TPPF’s foundational principles, emphasizing the protection and enhancement of liberty and opportunity. Propose innovative solutions to current challenges facing Texas and the nation.

Advocacy and Outreach: Engage with policymakers, stakeholders, and the public to advocate for policy reforms that advance the TPPF Mission (here). This includes drafting op-eds, policy briefs, and research reports, as well as presenting findings and recommendations in public forums, legislative hearings, and media appearances.

Vision Support: Bolster efforts to advance TPPF’s legislative action plan related to their expertise. Collaborate with other TPPF teams to ensure cohesive and strategic policy advocacy.

Mentorship and Collaboration: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior scholars and interns, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team. Collaborate with other TPPF capabilities to support the broader goals of the Foundation.

🏅 Qualifications
A deep commitment to the principles of liberty, personal responsibility, and free enterprise.

3 or more years of experience in public policy research.

Proven ability to conduct independent research and develop well-supported policy recommendations.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in public speaking and media engagement.

A track record of successfully advocating for policy changes at the state or federal level.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Strong quantitative-analysis skillset, including experience with statistical software packages like SPSS, Stata, R, and the like.

A master’s degree in public policy, law, economics, or a related field is preferred but not required.
