## About Emerald AI
We’re at a pivotal moment for AI and energy. Demand for compute is skyrocketing, but power constraints are becoming a critical bottleneck. Emerald AI sits at the intersection of these two worlds, enabling AI data centers to scale without overwhelming the grid.

Our Emerald Conductor software platform makes data centers flexible and responsive, allowing them to adjust power usage dynamically. This unlocks massive AI growth without major new infrastructure, while also strengthening the grid and supporting the expansion of renewable energy.

We’re a team of experts across AI, cloud, software, and energy—on a mission to scale AI sustainably. We’re backed by leading investors and partners including Radical Ventures and NVIDIA.

## About the Role
We’re looking for a Policy & Regulatory Affairs Manager to help shape and execute our policy and regulatory strategy at a critical moment of growth. As demand accelerates and regulatory landscapes evolve, this role will be instrumental in ensuring we can scale effectively while navigating complex policy environments.

You’ll help translate external regulatory developments into clear, actionable insights that inform company strategy. You’ll play a key role in identifying risks and opportunities, shaping our policy positions, and ensuring alignment between our business objectives and the broader regulatory context.

You’ll work closely with legal, product, operations, and leadership teams, as well as external stakeholders including regulators, policymakers, and industry groups. This role requires a high degree of ownership and judgment — you’ll be expected to operate independently, prioritize effectively in a fast-moving environment, and influence decisions across the organization.

## Key Responsibilities
– **Monitor policy developments** — Track and analyze policy changes across relevant jurisdictions (e.g., energy, infrastructure, AI, technology policy).
– **Translate regulatory changes** — Convert regulatory shifts into clear business impacts and recommendations.
– **Support policy strategy** — Identify risks, opportunities, and engagement priorities.
– **Draft policy materials** — Prepare briefing notes, consultation responses, position papers, and executive memos.
– **Engage external stakeholders** — Work with regulators, policymakers, industry associations, and partners.
– **Coordinate cross‑functional alignment** — Collaborate with legal, product, operations, and leadership teams.
– **Support advocacy efforts** — Participate in meetings, submissions, and public‑facing initiatives.

## Minimum Requirements
– **5+ years experience** in public policy, government, regulatory affairs, or related fields (e.g., government agency, consultancy, think tank, in‑house).
– **Strong understanding of regulatory processes** and stakeholder landscapes.
– **Excellent communication skills** with the ability to distill complex issues clearly.
– **Experience drafting policy documents** or engaging in regulatory processes.
– **Comfort with ambiguity** and fast‑paced environments.
– **Cross‑functional collaboration** and influence without authority.
– **Sector experience** in energy, infrastructure, or AI/tech.

## Preferred Requirements
– **Experience with state Public Utility Commissions and/or FERC.**
– **Experience with ISO/RTOs** (e.g., PJM, ERCOT).
– **Direct engagement with regulators or government officials.**
– **Experience in a high‑growth or scaling organization.**

## What We Offer
– **Make an impact.** Solve the AI power bottleneck and shape how data centers scale sustainably.
– **Join a world‑class team** of AI, cloud, software, and energy experts in a collaborative, low‑ego environment.
– **Build from 0→1.** Influence strategy, GTM, org design, and customer/investor engagement from day one.
– **Competitive pay + equity.** Stock options included.
– **Comprehensive benefits,** including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) matching.
– **Flexible location.** Work from D.C., Boston, or the Bay Area, with 2 WFH days/week.
– **Backed by top investors,** including Radical Ventures and NVIDIA.
