## Overview
The National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) operates in a multifaceted environment that includes chain pharmacy executives, federal and state policymakers, supplier partners, media, and internal cross‑functional departments. NACDS is seeking a highly motivated and experienced political engagement professional to enhance the association’s political engagement and grassroots mobilization efforts.

Responsibilities include overseeing political program operations, coordinating grassroots advocacy campaigns, facilitating political fundraising education, ensuring compliance, organizing events, and monitoring legislative developments. This role requires a strategic, relationship‑driven, and detail‑oriented professional with experience in political operations, federal advocacy, grassroots organizing, and PAC management.

## Essential Functions

### Political Programs, Federal Engagement & Advocacy
– **Develop lobbying priorities** — Works closely with internal advocacy teams to develop lobbying priorities, strategies, and related activities.
– **Prepare legislative materials** — Drafts briefs, talking points, memos, and action alerts for distribution to Congress, the Administration, and NACDS members.
– **Monitor congressional activity** — Attends and reports on congressional hearings, briefings, and legislative meetings.
– **Represent NACDS externally** — Represents NACDS at political fundraisers, policy events, congressional meetings, and coalition gatherings (occasional evenings/weekends required).
– **Provide political analysis** — Offers political evaluation and fundraising recommendations to senior NACDS leadership.

### PAC & Political Program Operations
– **Manage political program operations** — Oversees day‑to‑day operations, including tracking contributions, disbursements, compliance, cash flow, and reconciliation.
– **Draft donor communications** — Prepares solicitation messages and program materials.
– **Maintain giving structures** — Maintains giving levels and benefits structures for political program participants.
– **Support FEC reporting** — Assists with monthly or quarterly FEC‑related reports in coordination with legal/compliance teams.

### Grassroots Advocacy & Member Mobilization
– **Lead grassroots strategy** — Directs NACDS grassroots program strategy, including campaigns, action alerts, messaging, and mobilization plans.
– **Grow grassroots networks** — Manages and expands NACDS grassroots networks, including key advocate programs and outreach initiatives.

### Event Planning, Operations & Program Logistics
– **Coordinate political events** — Plans and executes political program events, fundraising events, donor appreciation events, grassroots training sessions, and virtual briefings.
– **Manage event logistics** — Oversees logistical planning for political and grassroots‑related events (in‑person and virtual).
– **Coordinate staff participation** — Manages NACDS staff participation in external fundraisers and advocacy activities.
– **Perform additional duties** — Other duties as assigned.

## Desired Qualifications
– **Bachelor’s degree** in political science, public policy, government, or a related field.
– **7+ years of experience** in political operations, PAC management, grassroots advocacy, legislative affairs, or trade association government relations.
– **Knowledge of federal legislative process** and the elections environment.
– **FEC compliance knowledge** or willingness to learn.
– **Exceptional communication skills** — written, verbal, and interpersonal.
– **Collaborative mindset** with ability to coordinate across teams, member companies, and allied organizations.
– **Strong organizational skills** and ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy.
– **Advanced computer proficiency**, including Microsoft Office Suite.
– **High reliability** regarding schedule and deadlines.
– **Self‑motivation** and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
