1:30 p.m. – Developing a Tailored Training Program
A structured training plan is the best way to educate and motivate advocates to help advance your program and reach your goals. Learn how to design a program around your advocacy priorities and organization culture that will set your advocates up for success. Creating programs that are engaging and hands-on is critical to developing long-term advocates excited to participate. This session will cover:
- Platforms, structures and methods for hosting your advocate trainings
- Teaching advocates how to properly tell their story
- Presenting scenarios to advocates so they are prepared to engage with lawmakers
- Strategies for holding advocate attention and building confidence

- Building training tracks based on advocate preferences, availability and demonstrated skills
- Identifying activities best suited for more experienced advocates
- Developing benefits and networking opportunities for your grassroots leaders
- Communicating growth opportunities from the start
