The State of the Regulatory Landscape and Making a Plan

Regulatory activity happens in localities, states and at the federal level, in differing political environments, every day. This first session will explore the current regulatory landscape, including what’s different after the Chevron decision and how to execute a strong regulatory advocacy program. 

In this session, we will: 

  • Walk through the current state of rulemaking and ongoing trends 
  • Discuss similarities and differences in rulemaking at the local, state and federal levels 
  • Highlight what the end of the Chevron doctrine means going forward 
  • Outline what to consider when developing your own regulatory advocacy plans

Maintaining Coordination and Advancing Your Goals

Having a regulatory action plan ready is important, but implementation is key. Part two of the workshop will dive deep into best practices for putting your regulatory advocacy plans into action, including the importance of coordinating your local, state and federal regulatory advocacy work and how to build and sustain relationships with regulators. 

In this session, we will: 

  • Highlight ways to coordinate your regulatory advocacy with your other local, state and federal government relations efforts 
  • Provide case studies of where coordination paid off, as well as instances where lack of coordination led to unfavorable outcomes 
  • Discuss how the regulatory arena can bolster or hinder government relations success 
  • Share best practices for building and maintaining relationships with regulators
