1:30 p.m.         PAC Governance Fundamentals: Boards and Bylaws

A strong governance structure sets your program up for success, helps demonstrate transparency and builds trust in your political involvement efforts. We’ll start the afternoon by discussing best practices for managing a PAC board as well as what to include in bylaws, policies and procedures or other governance materials. In this session, we’ll explore:

  • The purpose of PAC bylaws, including reviewing bylaws to ensure they provide both an effective governance structure and contribution criteria that will guide your PAC’s disbursement strategy

2:15 p.m.          Reevaluating Contribution Criteria and Disbursement Strategy

The attempted insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, was an unprecedented event that led many companies and associations to re-examine their disbursement strategies and actions. The Public Affairs Council has advised dozens of organizations and developed recommendations that can be used to manage political involvement decision-making now and in the future. This session will review best practices and updated data exploring how organizations are resuming their PAC activities and criteria moving forward.
