As Associate General Counsel reporting to the VP Deputy General Counsel, you’ll play a critical role in providing legal and regulatory guidance on digital assets, cryptocurrencies, and blockchain initiatives while serving as a regulatory generalist within Nasdaq’s award-winning Legal Division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise Nasdaq’s Digital Assets business on evolving legal and regulatory requirements for digital asset securities, crypto trading, tokenization, and blockchain products.
  • Draft and review regulatory filings, legal documents, and submissions required to advance business objectives and maintain compliance.
  • Provide guidance on federal securities and commodities laws, anti-money laundering regulations, and state and international regulatory frameworks.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams across the U.S. and Europe to align legal strategy with business priorities.
  • Support investigations, litigation matters, and enforcement inquiries while advising on company policies and legal requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active bar membership in good standing.
  • 10–12 years of legal experience with significant focus on digital assets, cryptocurrency, or blockchain regulatory matters.
  • In-house legal experience at a digital assets company or law firm experience advising digital asset clients.
  • Strong ability to apply federal securities and commodities laws to emerging digital asset markets.
  • Clear communicator with experience in collaborative, cross-functional legal environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) or Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
  • Expertise in anti-money laundering (AML) laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with international digital asset regulations and cross-border compliance frameworks.

This position can be located in New York, Philadelphia, or Boston and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.

The base pay range for this role is $134,000 – $248,000. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth. Exact compensation may vary based on several job-related factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, experience, education/training, business needs and market demands.
