Summary of Position

As an integral member of the Public Policy and Advocacy team, the Associate Manager of Federal Government Relations ensures a pro-chiropractic message is received in the U.S. Congress and federal agencies, helps advance causes on behalf of ACA and defend the association and profession from adverse legislation or regulations. The position provides operational support for ACA grassroots activities, assists in the association’s Political Action Committee (PAC), and plays a key role in coordinating and organizing Capitol Hill visits and other activities during the ACA’s annual legislative meeting.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the implementation of public policies, positions, comments, and strategies in support of ACA-backed objectives to advance the chiropractic profession.
  • Work with ACA legislative committees on advocacy goals, grassroots strategies, and specific tactics to further legislative and regulatory priority issues.
  • Provide support on legislative and grassroots advocacy activities to the EVP, Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Advocacy, and ACA committees; including but not limited to the Legislative Committee and Political Action Committee.
  • Assist with analyzing legislative language, preparing reports, memoranda, and materials for effective advocacy before Congress and federal agencies.
  • Support ACA annual congressional “fly-in” activities, including scheduling congressional meetings, developing talking points on ACA priority issues, advocacy training for participants, and necessary follow-up.
  • Participate in stakeholder coalitions related to ACA priority public policy issues:
    • Patient’s Access to Responsible Care Alliance (PARCA)
    • Other committees/organizations as deemed vital by ACA leadership/EVP/SVP
  • Assist with communications regarding federal legislative and regulatory information to ACA members and allied professional organizations.
  • Help develop goals, strategies, and objectives related to ACA PAC and its operations through direct action and collaboration with Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Advocacy. The position may also be asked to attend political fundraisers throughout the Washington, DC area.
  • Manage online advocacy platforms including VoterVoice.
  • Assists in drafting content for ACA publications.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidate must have at least a minimum of two years legislative/policy experience within the U.S. Congress or a federal agency. A bachelor’s degree is also required.

The candidate must demonstrate strong skills in relationship building; professional networking; coalition organizing; project management and message development/delivery.
