Description
The Manager of Communications is primarily responsible for executing communication plans that support ReMA member and organizational goals. ReMA works to educate, inform, and influence key audiences – including members, potential members, industry stakeholders, federal, state, and local decision-makers, and media – through multi-channel communications programs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Manages project workflow on communications activities, collaborating with other departments to ensure deadlines are met.
- Manages content and distribution of the organization’s communications channels including newsletters, mobile app, press releases, podcasts, and videos.
- Drafts press releases, announcements, and other messages.
- Writes content in support of ReMA’s editorial calendar.
- Develops content and executes strategies for the organization’s social media accounts.
- Maintains media resource library including internal talking points, photos/videos, and other collateral.
- Assembles metrics reports and uses analytics to measure engagement across channels and make recommendations to improve engagement.
- Oversees and distributes daily media clips.
- Monitors news and social media and keeps staff informed of the latest developments on ReMA’s issues and priorities.
- Assists with chapter communications.
- Maintains and updates department’s SOPs.
- Attends industry events as needed.
Requirements
- Undergraduate college degree, preferably in the field of communications, public relations, or marketing.
- Strong writing, editing, verbal communications, and customer service skills.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic, hybrid work environment. Can work effectively with interruptions, handle frequently changing priorities, and manage unscheduled tasks with accuracy.
- Capable of setting priorities when multiple demands are present.
- Intermediate analytical and problem-solving skills. Comfort working with numbers and data sets.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines.
- Ability to work across departments and support team members to ensure tasks and projects are successful.
- Able to verbally articulate ReMA’s messages to outside stakeholders in a clear manner.
- Familiarity with email distribution systems, press release distribution, membership databases, graphic design software, and video/audio recording and editing.
- Ability to handle confidential information with a high level of discretion.
Working Conditions
- Salary range for this position is between $65k – $80k.
- Some travel and public speaking will be required. General office work environment.
