Job Summary

The Coordinator, Public Policy & Community Engagement, supports both the Public Policy and Community Engagement teams within the Company’s Global Communications and Public Affairs Department. This role involves research, writing, project coordination, and programmatic support across both teams, along with limited administrative support specifically for the Community Engagement team.

Candidate Profile

Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in public policy, community impact, administrative, communications or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including demonstrated expertise in Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of or experience in hospitality industry.

Core Work Activities

  • Develop collateral and materials for public affairs outreach and communications, supporting U.S. federal, state, and local work, as well as global government affairs efforts outside the U.S. and with foreign embassies in Washington, DC.
  • Undertake research projects to inform government affairs efforts, communications, advocacy initiatives, political spending, and public affairs needs.
  • Collaborate across the team to prepare for and support internal stakeholder needs and presentations, as well as external events designed to build Marriott’s reputational capital with key stakeholder groups, including supporting on-property associate participation in advocacy efforts.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to support executive engagement and preparation for public-affairs and external thought leadership forums and convening organizations, including briefing materials.
  • Assist in aggregating community affairs, disaster relief and contributions data, Community Engagement and Business Council activities, and visual assets in support of stakeholder requests and for inclusion in company surveys and reports.
  • Collaborate with volunteerism and Business Council leaders to provide support on projects for volunteer engagement globally.
  • Assist in relationship management and program development tasks for non-profit partnerships managed by the Community Engagement team including creating and maintaining project and contribution tracking tools and scheduling partnership calls and meetings.
  • Support the Community Engagement, Business Councils and Archives team on projects, programs and tasks as directed.
  • Conduct research and create reports and summary documents for Community Engagement and Public Policy leadership to aid in policy work, partnerships, and programs.
  • Support Marriott POV, the company’s community engagement and public policy social media channel.
  • Assist in administrative tasks as directed to support the SVP of Community Engagement and Business Councils, including meeting scheduling, travel planning, expense reporting and event planning/execution.
  • Execute updates to relevant MGS (intranet) pages overseen by the teams.
  • Manage inputs to Marriott Executive calendar sent weekly to communicators and other key stakeholders.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.67 to $42.93.
