The DSCC is Hiring a Deputy Press Secretary for the 2026 Election Cycle

The Deputy Press Secretary works with the DSCC’s Communications Department to assist with writing and media relations and is integral in the department’s work to hold Republican Senate incumbents and challengers accountable.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Supporting the communications team to execute key priorities, including rapid response efforts and long-term goals.
  • Drafting press releases, talking points, memos, and other materials. This is a writing-intensive position, and the ideal applicant will be able to draft materials quickly, incorporating strategic communications objectives into written materials.
  • Assisting in the DSCC’s media relations, including building relationships with members of the press, monitoring incoming requests, and serving as a point of contact for some media inquiries.
  • Assisting the communications team’s media monitoring operation, including distributing news clips and monitoring social media.
  • Maintaining national and state press lists, tracking various projects, and providing administrative support as needed.
  • Assisting in the coordination of the communications team’s work across departments.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • One to two cycles of campaign or political committee communications department experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Detail-oriented and ready to work in a fast-paced, campaign-style environment.

Salary:

The salary for this position is $63,600 annually.
