National Press Secretary
The DSCC is hiring a National Press Secretary for the 2026 election cycle. The National Press Secretary serves as a primary spokesperson for the DSCC and is integral to the Communications Department’s media relations work to hold Republican Senate incumbents and challengers accountable.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting the communications team to execute key priorities, including rapid response efforts and long-term goals.
- Serving as a primary spokesperson for the Committee and primary point of media contact, including responsibility for developing and executing DSCC media relations strategies and tactics.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with national and local reporters.
- Shaping media coverage of Senate races, the DSCC, and specific candidates.
- Assisting with managing media opportunities for members of the DSCC leadership team, including the Chair.
- Working with other departments to find innovative and creative ways to amplify the DSCC’s work and specific candidates.
- Helping manage and oversee other members of the DSCC’s press team.
- Writing and editing communications materials.
Ideal qualifications for the National Press Secretary include but are not limited to:
- Three to four cycles of campaign or political committee communications department experience. This is not an entry-level position.
- On-the-record experience.
- Existing relationships with national reporters and a demonstrated ability to successfully shape media coverage.
- Strong writing skills.
- Ability to multitask.
- Detail-oriented and ready to work in a fast-paced, campaign-style environment.
Salary:
The salary for this position is $90,000 – $110,000 annually.
