Digital Content Creator:

Under the supervision of the Communications Director, the Digital Content Creator will be responsible for content creation in digital communications. This includes graphic design, short video content creation, posting on Progressive Maryland’s social media pages, maintaining a social media calendar, growing the social media contingency of the communications team, livestreams, live engagement, and social media analytics.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Progressive Maryland’s social media calendar and all social media pages
  • Collaborate with organizers to create digital content for campaigns
  • Schedule timely posts on all social media platforms
  • Share/repost content from allies and endorsed candidates
  • Promote events and online actions via social media
  • Livestream virtual and in-person events on Facebook and Instagram
  • Lead social media attention during legislative sessions and candidate endorsements
  • Lead the Progressive Maryland Social Media Team, recruit volunteers, and conduct regular meetings
  • Train social media volunteers for chapter and task force pages
  • Create an annual Social Media Report for growth and analytics
  • Develop and implement effective social media strategies
  • Engage in direct voter contact at doors, over the phone, and at events
  • Any other digital content creation as necessary under the direction of the Communications Director

Qualifications:

  • Experience creating graphics and text for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok
  • Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn new digital platforms
  • Knowledge of Canva or other graphic design software
  • Ability to edit short video content via Canva or other video editing software
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Zoom for live streaming on Facebook
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure and handle multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently, as a team member, and as a team lead
  • Critical thinking, effective communication, and flexibility
  • Clear understanding of community challenges and a drive to address them

Pluses (but not required):

  • Experience creating and running digital advertisements
  • Familiarity with Maryland political systems at various levels
  • Experience or strong interest in electoral campaign work
  • Volunteer or work experience in digital community organizing
  • Volunteer or work experience in non-profit communications

Travel and Position Details:

All positions require reliable access to a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, laptop, phone, and willingness to travel throughout Maryland. The Digital Content Creator should be able to access Progressive Maryland’s social media profiles on the go for responding to urgent inquiries and live-posting during events.

Compensation:

The compensation for this position is in the range of $18-20/hour.
