Overview
The US Government Affairs team is looking for a Government Affairs Manager to work in a fast-paced environment to assist members of the policy team located in Washington, DC and to provide related programmatic support, government affairs outreach, and project management. The candidate will engage in, and should be familiar with, policy issues related to AI, sustainability, cybersecurity, and trade, among others. The position will also work closely with the other USGA (US Government Affairs) teams and requires a focus on collaboration, data management, and internal policies and procedures. This role will take the lead in coordinating and facilitating some of the USGA policy team’s most important work, partnering closely with others in similar roles and providing value to the team-supported. This role will report directly to the Chief of Staff.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 3+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR equivalent experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 4+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR Master’s Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 2+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related role OR equivalent experience.
Business Management IC3 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $72,800 – $144,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $95,100 – $157,900 per year.

Responsibilities
- Promote Microsoft as a local and worldwide leader in technological innovation, services and solutions that help people and organizations achieve more.
- Work closely across teams within CELA to coordinate USGA work streams and programs and identify opportunities for collaboration.
- Develop project plans, status reports, and other project management artifacts that help communicate the status and value of the team’s work to a broad set of internal stakeholders.
- Monitor and help ensure the team’s progress against key performance indicators; identifying, escalating, and mitigating risks before they become issues and using AI and other tools to inform and strategize solutions.
- Help develop collateral to assist team members in their policy and business development pursuits.
- Ensure compliance of political activities with external laws and regulations and Microsoft Standards of Business Conduct.
- Coordinate communications between members of the USGA team and external clients.
- Maintain an understanding of the Rhythm of Business to be proactive and contribute to planning discussions and anticipate business needs and challenges.
- Research and learn new concepts and government affairs issues.
- Serve as a resource to the policy team for organizational and corporate policies and procedures.
- Manage policy team-related internal Teams content and internal/external briefings.
- Support the policy team on special projects such as preparation work prior to Exec visits.
- Manage projects and coordinate events.
- Represent the company publicly in a variety of settings.
