Position Summary

The Government Relations Director is responsible for all government relations activities across AdvanSix. Specifically, this role’s responsibilities include driving the strategy and execution of our enterprise-wide Government Relations program including leading external engagement with elected officials and other key stakeholders in the regions where AdvanSix operates. The role will serve to holistically align our government relations strategy and activities, while working cross-functionally to bring resources together across the organization to deliver results at a local, state and national level.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the mission and execution of AdvanSix’s Government Relations strategy.
  • Mature and update company narrative (consistent yet dynamic) including with respect to short-, mid- and long-term goal setting.
  • Develop and execute a proactive engagement plan to promote and protect AdvanSix’s reputation, targeted to elected officials.
  • Establish and maintain a political network and track meetings and engagements.
  • Develop strategies to positively impact brand reputation and proactively address regulatory issues facing AdvanSix.
  • Develop enterprise view and approach to Environmental Justice.
  • Work closely with the Communications team, Sustainability Team and Site Leadership to plan, coordinate and execute the activities of the Government Relations function including lobbying, strategic outreach to elected officials, events, message development, issue management, influencer engagement, policy communications and thought leadership.
  • Coordinate interactions and interface with key internal stakeholders (executive leadership, functional subject matter experts, and Site Leadership) and external stakeholders (trade associations, community leaders, legislative consultants, and other industry professionals).
  • Strong relationships and experience in the legislative landscapes of this region are strongly preferred.
  • Serve as an ambassador for AdvanSix, possess significant political acumen and have state and local government relations expertise and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Ensure tactical related activities are completed on time and on budget.
  • Work collaboratively fielding inquiries from cross-functional stakeholders regarding government relations inquiries.
  • Oversight and management of SIXPAC activities including regulatory compliance, participation campaigns, member communications, contributions and recognition programs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental sciences, engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive responsibility/experience in related fields.
  • Prior experience in a multi-site manufacturing environment.
