Mondelēz International, Inc. (Mondelēz) is looking for a Public and Government Affairs (PGA) professional to join our DC-based Global Government Affairs (GA) team. Mondelēz empowers people to snack right in over 150 countries around the world. We are leading the future of snacking with iconic global and local brands such as Oreo, Ritz, LU, Clif Bar, and Tate’s Bake Shop biscuits and baked snacks, and Cadbury Dairy Milk, Milka, and Toblerone chocolate.
Overarching Role
- Support Mondelēz’s Vice President of Global GA and partner with:
- Other members of the Global PGA team
- Business/Commercial Unit (BU/CU) CGA teams in North and Latin America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa
- Other functions and sub-functions (e.g., Legal, Scientific and Regulatory Affairs, Nutrition, Impact/Sustainability, Tax)
- Help fashion global PGA strategy and execute the global PGA work program
- Represent Mondelēz and advocate for its interests externally
Specific Responsibilities
Policy/Political Foresight and Insight
- Partner with others on Mondelēz’s global and local CGA teams and external agencies in monitoring government rulemaking and determining the impact on Mondelēz in three priority policy areas:
- Nutrition, health, and well-being: Marketing/advertising restrictions, targeted indirect taxes, front-of-pack labeling requirements
- Social and environmental sustainability: ESG disclosure mandates, supply chain due diligence, packaging waste regulations
- License to operate: Price controls, taxes, trade rules, labor regulations
- Track and analyze geopolitical developments relevant to Mondelēz’s business
- Summarize and distribute media reports, government publications, and industry briefings
Advocacy Support and External Engagement
- Support local CGA teams in achieving advocacy priorities
- Engage U.S.-based and visiting foreign officials
- Partner with internal teams to distill policy-related information
- Advocate for Mondelēz’s interests with policymakers, international organizations, and industry leaders
- Represent Mondelēz in trade associations and business coalitions
Asset Development and Multi-market Projects
- Assist in designing global enablers like playbooks, toolkits, and templates
- Support execution of global and regional projects with defined objectives
Internal Networks and Programming
- Develop programming and participate in internal networks/meetings
- Weekly Global GA team meetings
- Bi-monthly Global PGA Community of Practice meetings
- Periodic PGA in the Spotlight sessions
- Bi-monthly discussions with BU/CU CGA leads
Presentations and Other Written Materials
- Create PowerPoint presentations for diverse audiences
- Draft briefers, background papers, and talking points
Qualifications and Skills
- Graduate degree in international relations, business, law, economic policy, or sustainability policy
- Minimum 8 years of experience in government or government affairs
- Knowledge of policy issues relevant to the food industry
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across cultures
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $117,400 – $161,425 (depends on experience, skills, and education)
