The role:

The Global Government Affairs Manager will work collaboratively with the corporate and North America government affairs team and lead projects on public policy and regulatory matters, advocacy initiatives, and external engagements with thought leadership community. This position will monitor, conduct research and analyze policies and legislations on food, dietary supplements, public health, and direct selling, and develop proposals to create public facing initiatives and activities that advance aims and objectives of the department. The role will support development of strategy and plan and the execution for thought leadership engagement and work with cross-functional team to build messaging, content and assets used externally. In addition, this role will represent the company at external meetings with lawmakers and their staff, trade associations and external partners as well as communicate with internal colleagues to align on the company’s position. This role will report to the Senior Director, Global Government Affairs.

How you would contribute:

  • Anticipate, monitor, track, and analyze policies, legislations, and regulations and provide consultation to the team on key developments that may be an impact on Herbalife Nutrition business by identifying issues and proposing plans to mitigate issues which could represent business risk
  • Develop and implement, with the Senior Director, issue management strategies by working with internal and external partners
  • Lead the planning and execution of advocacy programs (e.g. Health Cities Initiative) and key external engagements with thought leaders (e.g. scientific and public health conferences) by working with cross-functional and cross-regional teams as well as external partners
  • Support the PAC administrator to develop and distributor newsletters and increase exposure internally
  • Support fly-in events for Herbalife Nutrition distributors to meet with legislators
  • Develop and maintain an effective partner outreach program, working with subject matter authorities from across the business to strategically engage associations, influencers, public policymakers and thought leadership communities. Maintain a network of relationships with lawmakers and staff, trade associations, industry representatives, and external partners in the thought leadership community
  • Manage and ensure trade and membership associations are delivering value against Herbalife Nutrition’s critical initiatives and goals through effective communication with internal and external partners
  • Work extensively with US and international government affairs teams to identify resource needed to enhance awareness and reputation of the company to thought leadership community with approved messages
  • Support the development our messaging, position, response, content, and various assets (e.g. briefing materials, factsheets, etc.) for effective and high-impact communication with external partners by working with cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate in brainstorming sessions with Corporate Communications team on effective distribution of developed contents to key opinion leaders (KOLs). Support the development and organization of KOL contacts for targeted communication and engagement
  • Be part of key working groups with appropriate trade and membership associations
  • Assist in content development and creation for internal partners to share updates on key projects and programs and maintain the team’s intranet site
  • Collaborate with organizational teams to align on priorities and company initiatives

  • Demonstrated ability to write and edit clear, precise and grammatically accurate documents and correspondence with speed and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate efficiently and expertly and the ability to operate at all levels within an organization
  • Must have high level of attention to detail and strong time leadership skills by prioritizing well
  • Proficient at working in a technical environment. Must be analytical, strategic, mature and thoughtful
  • Flexible and able to react positively to challenge and change
  • Proficiency in commonly used software applications such as: Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite

Experience:

  • 7 years of government affairs, corporate public affairs, or public policy experience in nutrition-related or health-related field

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in political science, public affairs, public health, nutrition, or food science
