Fujitsu: Manager of Government Affairs

Position Summary
Reporting to the management of the DC office, the Manager of Government Affairs builds and strengthens relationships with the U.S. government (executive branch, Congress, and regulators), industry associations, and think tanks and develops reports regarding U.S. policy and international trends. The successful Manager will gather useful information on U.S. policy and international trends and will enhance Fujitsu’s visibility with these stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Based on direction by management:
- Plan and implement measures to enhance the visibility of Fujitsu with U.S. government officials (White House, Congress, and federal agencies).
- Monitor legislation and regulations at the federal level and, in collaboration with other colleagues, assess their impact on ICT in general and on Fujitsu specifically.
- Develop and advance Fujitsu’s policy and advocacy strategy for trade and other international policy issues.
- Author memos, testimony, regulatory comments, and other written materials necessary to carry out the duties of this job on behalf of Fujitsu.
- Actively participate in the activities of industry associations and plan and implement measures to utilize them to enhance the organization’s presence.
- Gather information and set up meetings with members of the administration, Congress and staff, and senior career federal government employees under the direction of the DC General Manager and other office staff.
- Build relationships with and provide salient information to key persons in internal Fujitsu North American business divisions (Americas Region/FRA, etc.).
- Provide ongoing reporting to the DC General Manager and others in the DC office with respect to policy developments and related communications and outreach.
- Support Fujitsu’s activity globally and across North America as required.

Required Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in policy, political science, business, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of total work experience with at least three years in relevant positions in the executive branch, U.S. government agencies, and/or on Capitol Hill.
- Connection to the Japanese culture.
- Knowledge and understanding of legislative and regulatory processes at the federal level.
- Experience in trade policy.
- Experience with technology policy issues.
- Significant existing relationships with legislators and regulators.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and in other business platforms including databases.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
- Master’s degree.
- Related ICT business knowledge and experience.
- Experience working in a Japanese company.
- Familiarity with the Japanese language.
- Experience with companies whose HQs are located in countries other than the US and whose businesses operate all over the world.
