The Medical Affairs team collaborates with the leaders of Sleep, Respiratory Care, SaaS, ResMed Healthcare, and Asia Growth Markets to ensure our work, especially our clinical research and market access projects, align with their strategic priorities. We also review key government policies, as part of the continuous evaluation and improvement process that helps us maintain global compliance across an ever-shifting landscape of legal and regulatory requirements.
The two, research and compliance, work hand-in-hand, and when balanced properly allow us to generate important clinical, economic and market evidence, that improves the lives of patients in ways that are scientifically valid, clinically relevant and ethically sound.

Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Manager of Government Affairs and Policy to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of health policy, as well as hands-on experience working in Congress or related government agencies, ideally with a focus on healthcare.
This position offers the opportunity to support a leading medical technology company treating sleep and breathing health, by advocating for policies that promote innovation, improve patient care, and ensure regulatory compliance.
The Manager of Government Affairs and Policy will play a key role in shaping the company’s advocacy strategy, building relationships with government and industry stakeholders, and monitoring and analyzing healthcare policy developments to influence the regulatory and legislative landscape to protect patient access to care and innovative technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Policy Advocacy: Advocate for the company’s interests in federal and state healthcare policy discussions, with a focus on medical technology and related issues.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key government stakeholders, including members of Congress, regulatory agencies (e.g., FDA, CMS), and industry partners. Represent the company at public policy forums, hearings, and industry events to foster positive relationships and enhance the company’s visibility in the policy space.
- Legislative Tracking & Analysis: Monitor and analyze legislation, regulations, and policies that impact the medical technology sector, and provide timely updates and actionable insights to leadership.
- Strategic Guidance: Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, regulatory, and communications to develop and execute effective government affairs strategies that align with the company’s business objectives.
- Advocacy Campaigns: Assist in the development of advocacy campaigns and communications materials, including policy briefs, presentations, and other collateral.
- Issue Management: Identify emerging policy issues affecting the medical technology industry and work with cross-functional teams to develop strategies to address them.
Qualifications
- Education: Degree in Health Policy, Public Policy, Political Science, or related field. Advanced degrees a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or legislative affairs, with a focus on healthcare and/or medical technology.
- Government Experience: Experience working in Congress, a federal agency (such as the FDA, CMS, or HHS), or a related governmental body, with a proven track record of policy analysis and advocacy.
- Healthcare Knowledge: A solid understanding of the healthcare system, regulations affecting medical devices, and key healthcare policies.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex policy issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strategic Thinker: Ability to think critically and strategically, balancing long-term policy goals with short-term legislative priorities.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong relationship-building skills with a diverse set of stakeholders, including lawmakers, regulators, and industry partners.
- Team Player: Ability to collaborate across departments and contribute to a positive team dynamic.

Individual pay decisions are based on a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s geographic work location, relevant qualifications, work experience, and skills.
At ResMed, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is:
$115,000 – $173,000 USD Annual
