Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Staff liaison for Task Forces, Councils, Roundtables, & Working Groups, as assigned
    • Supports preparation of meeting agendas and summaries and assists with executing the events.
    • Manages Council and Working Group projects, e.g. identifies high-level attendees, coordinates virtual and/or in-person meetings, schedules teleconferences, and ensures project(s) adhere to timelines and meet deadlines.
    • Manage pipeline of anticipated task forces and working group reports.
    • Collate responses from reviewers on task force and working group reports and liaise with authors.
    • Ensure the membership database for respective scientific groups is up to date.
  • Staff Liaison for Special Interest Groups
    • Manages several ISPOR Special Interest Groups, groups of 100 or more ISPOR members who share a common interest within a topic area to advance HEOR and the use of this research in healthcare decisions. This includes holding regular teleconferences, preparing meeting agendas and discussion summaries, sending email updates to members of the special interest groups, convening group meetings at ISPOR annual conferences, assisting in the recommendation and development of key projects, conference presentations, and publications. The Manager also maintains the Special Interest Group membership database and webpage.
    • Keeping the SIG organized and adhering to agreed-upon timelines and deadlines is a crucial aspect of this job.
    • Works with the Special Interest Group Leadership Teams (Co-Chairs) on the development of Special Interest Group knowledge products, such as literature and/or scoping reviews, peer-reviewed manuscripts in an ISPOR Journal (Value in Health or Value in Health Regional Issues), an article in ISPOR’s online magazine, Value & Outcomes Spotlight, educational webinars, journal clubs or online community.
  • Staff Liaison for Communities of Interest and Online Community Content Corners
    • Maintain active communication, fostering and moderating discussions, responding to members, and implementing strategies to enhance participation on ISPOR’s online interactive platform. Manage post tracker including responding to discussion threads, adding resources to the online libraries, and working with the respective online Community Engagers to create content for the discussion thread.
    • Track engagement metrics and report on online community growth and activities.
  • ISPOR Initiatives
    • Scans daily healthcare news to gain knowledge on scientific and policy developments related to work assignments and the practice of HEOR.
    • Manages, in collaboration with other staff, the promotion of scientific and health policy content and initiatives.
    • Works collaboratively across ISPOR departments to implement and improve the organization’s content strategy.
    • Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, economics, pharmacy or other healthcare-related or health services research-related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in pharmaceutical, research, healthcare or related field; Master’s training can count towards this experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, results orientation.
  • Strategic and operational approach, strong project management, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter and problem-solver.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong ability to effectively communicate both within and outside the organization to many different cultures in order to drive execution and foster innovation and trust.
  • Advanced note-taking skills and ability to write clear summaries or reports.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office 365 with ability to learn new technology platforms.
  • Preferred experience in Asana, SurveyMonkey, and online community management.
  • Knowledge of HEOR and/or healthcare policy preferred.
  • Exposure and/or training on how to write and/or review scientific publications preferred.
  • Experience conducting scientific literature searches preferred.
  • Experience working with volunteers preferred.
  • Public speaking ability and good presentation skills preferred.

  • Travel Required, the expectation is 2–6 times yearly, including international travel. Travel to ISPOR meetings and other travel related to the performance of job responsibilities, if requested by ISPOR management, is required.

Position Summary

The Scientific & Health Policy Initiatives department is integral to ISPOR’s mission. This department supports many of ISPOR’s member groups, such as ISPOR’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs), task forces, councils, roundtables, and working groups. These groups develop high-quality HEOR projects, scientific publications, webinars, online communities, and presentations. The department also advises on scientific and health policy content for ISPOR conferences, initiatives, marketing and related activities.

The Manager, Scientific & Health Policy Initiatives, focuses on Global Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Initiatives as a project manager.

Base Pay

$65,000.00 – $70,000.00 / Year
