Position Summary
As a Manager, State Government Affairs, you will develop relationships and serve as the liaison with State & Local officials, coalitions, and industry associations composed of companies with similar interests and viewpoints on important matters; leveraging them in support of company priorities.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a nimble Government Affairs organization and engage on items beyond State or local issues, including Federal or International matters.
- Identify emerging legislative issues and policy trends affecting corporate objectives, including agriculture/farm policy, climate/carbon markets, regenerative agriculture, carbon sequestration, methane capture, renewable fuel standards, tax, and right to repair.
- Manage state contract lobbying activity and direct CNH lobbying efforts on right-to-repair in various states.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships at all levels of government and with stakeholders such as state, provincial, city, or local public services.
- Develop and maintain relationships with state industry trade associations, equipment dealer associations, and state commodity groups.
- Maintain a functional understanding of the political environment in states where CNH has facilities.
- Collaborate with site management teams to initiate and lead applications and contracts for State and Federal economic development projects.
- Coordinate work assignments with business unit client groups and other government affairs team members.
- Establish relationships with business units to identify policy concerns related to business objectives.
- Provide advice and counsel to various business units on key issues and political matters.
- Represent business unit and enterprise interests before policymakers as the lead advocate.
- Analyze and evaluate probable impacts of government activities and develop actionable plans in response.
- Develop regulatory or legislative initiative ideas beneficial to the company.
- Coordinate with other companies, trade associations, and consortiums to influence common concerns.
- Develop materials and arguments to support executives, dealers, or customers in communicating CNH positions to government officials.
- Host senior corporate executives, government officials, and key stakeholders at CNH locations and events.
- Stay informed about corporate plans and translate them into political priorities.
- Maintain compliance with State and Federal lobbying regulations and official interactions.
Salary Range: $119,250 – $159,000 (Actual salaries vary based on skills, experience, and qualifications.)
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of successful legislative/policy experience
- Confirmed knowledge of state legislative and regulatory processes
Preferred:
- Experience building coalitions to work on legislative initiatives
