National Press Secretary
The DSCC is hiring a National Press Secretary for the 2026 election cycle. The National Press Secretary serves as a primary spokesperson for the DSCC and is integral to the Communications Department’s media relations work to hold Republican Senate incumbents and challengers accountable.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Support the communications team to execute on key priorities, including rapid response efforts and long-term goals.
Serve as a primary spokesperson for the Committee and primary point of media contact, including responsibility for developing and executing DSCC media relations strategies and tactics.
Develop and maintain relationships with national and local reporters.
Shape media coverage of Senate races, the DSCC, and specific candidates.
Assist with managing media opportunities for members of the DSCC leadership team, including the Chair.
Work with other departments to find innovative and creative ways to amplify the DSCC’s work and specific candidates.
Help manage and oversee other members of the DSCC’s press team.
Write and edit communications materials.
Ideal Qualifications
Ideal qualifications for the National Press Secretary include but are not limited to:
Three to four cycles of campaign or political committee communications department experience (this is not an entry-level position).
On-the-record experience.
Existing relationships with national reporters and a demonstrated ability to successfully shape media coverage.
Strong writing skills.
Ability to multitask.
Detail-oriented and ready to work in a fast-paced, campaign-style environment.
Salary
$90,000 – $110,000 annually.
