Primary Purpose
The Senior Manager, Advocacy Communications will develop and execute the campaign strategy to establish Exelon as a leading voice among our industry and general business, both externally and internally, for federal and state policy advocacy efforts. The Senior Manager will stay on top of industry developments and trends, building communications initiatives, narratives, and events that shape the company’s reputation as a trusted expert on topics important to our industry and communities.
Primary Duties
Create and execute comprehensive strategic communications strategies in support of federal and state policy goals, utilizing storytelling, media relations, digital communications, and other communications tools.
Think strategically about the future of our business and competitive communications landscape, and translate that for external and internal audiences.
Collaborate with the Federal Government & Regulatory Affairs team on key efforts to drive legislative support and/or action.
Write and edit plans, remarks, statements, and other key materials; manage multiple projects and priorities. Skilled at crafting both long-form and real-time content, along with distribution strategies and tactics.
Collaborate with OpCo partners to build an enterprise-wide thought leadership strategy and support messaging for corporate and local Exelon leaders.
Lead, coach, and develop a small team of direct reports.
Research issues and trends.
Interact and present to C-suite and other leaders across Exelon.
Job Scope
Develop and implement policy advocacy campaigns.
Work closely with corporate internal, media, digital, and social teams, as well as OpCo communicators.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field.
At least ten years’ experience leading communications for complex organizations, with excellent interpersonal, writing, and editing skills.
Excellent verbal communication, writing, editing, and presentation skills.
Strong interpersonal communication and management skills.
High level of self-motivation and independence.
Strategic thinking ability; self-motivation; organizational sensitivity.
Excellent follow-through capability; demands high level of performance from self and others.
Ability to interact with all levels of staff, including senior executives.
In lieu of a degree, 12-15 years of relevant experience, including 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with energy industry policy issues and trends.
Advocacy, legislative, or electoral campaign communications experience at the local, state, or federal level.
Strong understanding of integrated marketing communications strategy and tactics, including traditional and non-traditional advertising (paid search, natural search, affiliate, display advertising), digital marketing, public relations, marketing automation journeys, and content marketing.

Annual salary: $132,000 – $181,500 plus an additional $25K in Long Term Incentive Plan annually.
