Political Engagement Managers (2024 Election Cycle)
Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund (“Everytown for Gun Safety”) is the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country. Everytown for Gun Safety’s Political Team is seeking to hire 2 Political Engagement Managers to help build the strength and power of our grassroots volunteer network, Moms Demand Action, in the lead up to the 2024 election. This role will be critical to advancing Everytown’s electoral strategy and our commitment to expand the number of volunteers who seek elected office.
Key Responsibilities:
Demand a Seat Programming and Participant Engagement:
- Organize and facilitate workshops, “office hours,” and networking sessions for Demand a Seat participants to connect, share best practices and strategies, build relationships and community, and facilitate mentoring.
- Identify and support guest speakers, including campaign experts and elected officials, for Demand a Seat training sessions.
- Deliver training, facilitate breakout groups, and recruit participants for in-person and virtual training sessions.
- Review and assess all training content and materials to ensure that they are the highest quality and that they meet the needs of candidates and overall program goals.
Candidate Engagement:
- Act as the primary point of contact for a regional group of candidates, providing information to candidates about the Gun Sense Candidate program.
- Serve as an expert on political priorities and developments in the region, including research, tracking, and reporting on the progress of volunteer candidates.
- Represent the political team on regional pods, providing updates on political priorities and strategies, soliciting feedback, and developing recommendations for endorsements and contributions.
Candidate Recruitment:
- Manage volunteer candidate recruiters who are working to identify potential candidates in their communities and drive Demand a Seat participation.
- Collaborate with field and data teams to track outreach activities and potential candidates.
- Deliver training and develop resources to help volunteer recruiters engage with potential candidates in their communities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Ideal candidates will have 3+ years of experience in political campaigns, progressive non-profits (with an organizing focus) or within similar entities.
- Experience in building relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
- Experience developing and delivering training is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and to drive and manage own workload.
- Excellent project management skills and ability to carry out multiple projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively by making and meeting team goals.
- Excellent communication and time management skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic proficiency in Google Suite and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
- Flexible work schedule when evening and weekend hours are required.
- Ability to travel on behalf of the organization.
This position will be for the 2024 election cycle and will be based in the New York City or Washington, DC office.
The annual salary range for this position is $80,000-$90,000, depending on prior experience. Everytown offers a generous benefits package including Medical, Dental and Vision benefits, PTO, 401K Match, Education Assistance, and more.
