Senior Policy Analyst Position at AES

Job Description: As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in spearheading federal policy research and aligning AES business units’ approaches to policy positions. Your responsibilities will extend to addressing state policy issues in key Clean Energy (CE) markets, collaborating with AESCE commercial, development, and finance teams, and ensuring effective communication processes. The position demands a keen understanding of AESCE’s assets, excellent communication skills, and effective collaboration within the team.

Work Arrangement: This position offers 100% remote work within the US territory, with occasional travel for team meetings at our Salt Lake City, UT office.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Review, research, analyze, and communicate the potential impact of clean energy and related policy proposals.
  2. Collaborate with internal teams to assess policy impacts on business outcomes.
  3. Incorporate policy analysis into market strategy and outlook.
  4. Ensure comprehension of state policy risks and opportunities for short- and long-term portfolio goals.
  5. Develop communication tools for various priorities and partners.
  6. Keep the Senior Leadership Team updated on key issues and opportunities.
  7. Assist in developing State Policy Plans as needed.
  8. Foster relationships with key policymakers and represent AESCE at various events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2 to 5 years relevant experience in policy analysis and/or communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; virtual meeting platforms (Zoom or Teams); CRM tools such as Salesforce
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
