## The Senior Director, Regulatory Counsel

The Senior Director, Regulatory Counsel represents the association and advocates its policy positions regarding consumer financial protection, competition, and innovation regulation and legislation primarily before financial regulatory agencies.

## What You’ll Do

Stay abreast of regulatory, legislative, operational, and market developments in areas of responsibility (i.e., consumer financial protection, competition and innovation).
Advocate before and serve as co‑liaison with bank regulatory agencies, industry councils and other trade associations on a wide variety of banking issues.
Prepare communications to agency officials (comment letters, papers, reports, etc.) and advocate before regulatory agencies after input from ICBA members.
Analyze bank regulatory proposals, policies, and industry initiatives for impact on community banks.
Work with association members to formulate and draft association positions.
Recommend and participate in and oversee the formulation of ICBA advocacy strategies, goals, policies and objectives in area of expertise/responsibility.
Provide subject matter and technical expertise to assist legislative efforts, including legislative analysis, drafting legislation, preparation of testimony, and participation in meetings.
Serve on industry group task forces and working groups.
Represent and communicate ICBA positions in industry forums and speak at ICBA and industry conferences.
Provide subject matter and technical expertise to ICBA subsidiaries.
Respond to banker and press inquiries.
Write articles for ICBA publications on regulatory developments.

## What You Bring

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s and/or JD preferred.
At least three years of related experience in the financial services industry or with a bank regulatory agency, trade association, or law firm.
Expert knowledge of financial services law and regulation.
Excellent writing and research skills.
Strong ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, co‑workers, and external parties.
Strong ability to think strategically and work in collaboration with others to produce effective results.
Excellent policy analysis and advocacy skills.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Ability to travel.

The target annual salary range for this role is currently $150,000 to $175,000 based on a regular, full‑time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, location, market data, and internal equity.
