The Alliance for Automotive Innovation is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Senior Manager/Director to enhance our Federal Affairs Team. This role offers an opportunity to help educate policymakers on matters critical to the auto industry as it undergoes a generational transformation toward a cleaner, safer, and smarter future. The ideal candidate will bring fresh perspectives from Capitol Hill, with a background in federal policy and familiarity with tax-related issues and will play a key role in ensuring the Association remains the trusted and unified voice of the auto industry.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with implementation and integration of the strategic advocacy plan to advance Auto Innovators’ mission; broaden awareness of its priorities; and increase the visibility of its key issues across membership baseline.
  • Help develop advocacy strategy that will allow Auto Innovators’ leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences, including the members of Congress and Administration officials.
  • Participate in the development of legislative initiatives affecting Auto Innovators’ and its members.
  • Prepare testimony, correspondence, and other strategic communications for the administration and Congress.
  • Exercise judgment to prioritize advocacy opportunities, and plan, organize and engage in interactions that help promote and/or impact the organization. Actively engage, cultivate and manage Capitol Hill relationships to ensure coordinated industry effort on legislative and regulatory issues.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Proven ability to build relationships proactively with members of Congress and the Administration.
  • Strong track record of translating strategic thinking into actionable plans.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience integrating technical, communications, and legal resources into legislative and regulatory efforts.
  • Excellent judgment, negotiation, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Self-reliant and results-oriented, with a capacity to make decisions in dynamic environments.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to engage senior management, board members, and staff effectively.
  • Strategic and tactical thinking abilities, with an innovative approach to problem-solving.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience on Capitol Hill, in the Executive Branch, or in a related corporate or trade association federal affairs role.
  • Familiarity with House and Senate legislative processes (including committee and floor procedures) and federal rulemaking.
  • Exposure to tax-related issues and financial policy preferred.
  • Passion for Auto Innovators’ mission.

To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base pay ranges for all US-based job postings regardless of state. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below. The salary or OTE range for this position is $130,000 to $175,000. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, medical benefits, 401(k) plan, and other company perk programs.
