Position Summary:
This is a high-profile role working closely with Senior Leadership to drive successful development and implementation of global visual and written content, entertainment marketing opportunities and productions. This is an important, strategic role in the implementation of public relations programs designed to create and maintain a favorable public image for the organization. This team member should be a skilled, seasoned communications and public relations professional, capable of providing expert advice to senior executives, directing major projects and project teams, and producing content of the highest caliber. Sound professional instincts, the ability to manage important internal and external relationships, and deep professional knowledge are required, since the team member will be the face and voice of the brand on important projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work in collaboration with the Director of PR to drive the strategy for external earned media-first content, productions, written communications, and events. Implement this strategy globally and work with the earned media team across our key markets, entertainment marketing agencies, and other team members to generate strong brand awareness and media exposure in tier 1 titles with high editorial quality scores in line with the brand’s measurement KPIs.
- Develop, manage, and execute strategies to create impactful global visual content strategies for Royal Caribbean International, subject matter experts, products & services, and events.
- Collaborate with regional teams, including the Head of PR, to strategize and develop content that resonates with local audiences.
- Oversee the Royal Caribbean global press center and the creation of all related content.
- Review and analyze analytics of content strategies and convert data into actionable content recommendations and improvements.
- Own and manage significant communications programs, which may include external content production, TV/film opportunities, and events across Royal’s key markets.
- Supervise the creation of videos, photos, infographics, and more in partnership with video editors and designers, while independently developing and executing innovative content strategies that support business priorities and media relations efforts globally.
- Assist with written communications, including press releases, executive communications (internal and external letters, speeches, etc.), statements, and editing content, as well as pitching content ideas.
- Lead and coach subject matter experts such as senior media relations professionals, speechwriters, project managers, and other key contributors.
- Direct the activities of external agencies and internal teams as needed.
- Build and maintain key professional relationships with internal stakeholders such as Marketing, Sales, and RCG Corporate Communications.
- Independently develop and execute appropriate strategies to address communications challenges.
- Provide leadership to supporting internal clients on project teams.
- Serve as a leading-edge subject-matter expert on key professional disciplines.
People:
This role is responsible for the management, motivation, and personal development of the team, including an ongoing program of mentoring and skills development, the setting of objectives, and regular appraisals.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field.
- 10+ years of PR experience in a PR agency, public relations, journalism, or corporate communications environment; travel industry experience is a plus.
- Excellent writing skills and creative mindset. Experience with press release writing, story narrative, and message creation is a plus.
- Proven experience in a strategic leadership role managing numerous internal and external stakeholders.
- Understanding of emerging media trends, content trends, social media, and influencers.
- Strong ability to interact with the senior executive team and build effective relationships within the company, with the public, guests, and media.
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours and travel as appropriate (domestic & international).
- Excellent relationship builder – ability to create, foster, and leverage relationships to achieve outstanding results.
- Experience managing relationships with a PR agency.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong planning capabilities to identify and prioritize communication strategies and activities as well as to meet deadlines required to support communications and business needs.
- Ability to remain calm and non-confrontational regardless of the situation.
- Ability to build relationships, liaise, and coordinate cross-functionally across teams.
- Good presence – able to quickly gain the confidence of senior management.
- Experience in a matrix and multi-national organization preferred.
- Demonstrated success in planning and implementing integrated PR campaigns with a proven impact on the bottom line.
- Ability to evaluate and provide constructive feedback in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly analyze situations and alternatives and make prudent decisions.
- Always up to date with trends, both within and outside our industry.
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email).
- Outstanding English language proficiency; proficiency in Spanish is desirable.
- Excellent research, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Goal oriented and action-focused, practical, and self-disciplined.
- An effortlessly organized, self-motivated individual with a wealth of creative ideas.
