Job Description and Responsibilities
Visa’s Global Policy team is at the forefront of shaping the future of digital payments. As Senior Manager, Strategic Policy Initiatives, Global Policy, you will play a pivotal role in driving high-impact events, partnerships, and strategic initiatives that advance Visa’s policy and business priorities.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Policy Initiatives, you will work closely with Global Policy team members, regional Global Government Engagement teams, and cross-functional business units (e.g., Communications, Legal, Product, Technology).

Responsibilities
Lead Event Operations for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Annual and Spring Meetings (October and April, respectively, in Washington, DC):
- Establish and run weekly coordination calls.
- Coordinate with the Global Policy team’s external Advisory Council.
- Own the overall event schedule (calendar invites, daily agenda), timeline development, and staffing plan.
- Manage briefing memo templates and briefing book assembly.
- Provide operational support for side events (compliance and logistics).
- Manage car schedules, task and engagement tracking, and post-event debriefs with success metrics.
Serve as Global Policy’s Primary Resource for Event Management:
- Manage Global Policy’s global engagement calendar.
- Ensure compliance and operational excellence across all engagements.
Strengthen Global Policy’s Strategic Partnerships:
- Manage Global Policy’s overall strategic partnership plan with think tanks, trade associations, and global policy organizations.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive partnership strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Establish regular check-ins with internal stakeholders to evaluate partnership effectiveness.
- Conduct audits to ensure maximum impact and return on investment for annual planning.
Maximize the Impact of Global Policy’s Non-Resident Senior Fellows:
- Identify opportunities for Global Policy team members and other Visa teams to engage Fellows’ expertise to achieve shared business objectives.
Support Global Policy’s Advisory Council:
- Partner with the Director, Strategic Policy Initiatives to execute the Advisory Council strategy.
- Support the Director in proactively identifying ways to maximize the Advisory Council’s impact by strengthening connections with Visa’s executives.
Maintain and Optimize Visa’s Policy Position Repository:
- Update and manage this internal resource.
- Ensure Global Government Engagement teams have the latest insights and messaging on key policy issues.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, or 11 years of work experience without a degree.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience working with C-suite executives and senior government leaders.
- Event Strategy & Operations Expertise – Proven experience leading high-profile policy events, preferably IMF and World Bank Annual & Spring Meetings or similar global engagements.
- Strategic Partnerships Leadership – Strong track record of managing partnerships between private sector, think tanks, and global policy organizations.
- Consultant & Stakeholder Management – Experience working with or managing external advisors, fellows, or consultants.
- Executive Communication & Influence – Exceptional intercultural, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to synthesize complex topics into clear, concise messaging for C-suite executives and policymakers.
- High Judgment & Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to distill signal from noise, prioritize effectively, and make strategic decisions in fast-moving environments.
- Project & Program Management Excellence – Strong ability to orchestrate complex global initiatives, manage competing priorities, and align cross-functional stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of professional experience, ideally in government affairs, public policy, or strategic partnerships within the private sector.
- Strong understanding of payments, financial technology, and emerging regulatory trends.
- Experience working in a matrixed, global organization with diverse cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with Visa’s business strategy and product offerings.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $143,200 to $230,900 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
