Description Overview

The Vice President and Global Head of Communications will lead the development and execution of comprehensive communication strategies to enhance the company’s brand, reputation, and market presence. This role involves overseeing internal and external communications, media relations, and crisis management initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in global communications within the CPG Self-Care industry.

Scope of the Role

  • Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive corporate communication strategy that aligns with the company’s goals and objectives. This role will be empowered to reconsider all aspects of Perrigo’s internal and external brand ecosystem including branding, visual presentation, brand language, tone of voice, and position in the marketplace.
  • Content Creation & Corporate Branding: Develop and implement corporate brand messaging and positioning strategies to enhance the company’s reputation and brand image. Oversee the development of internal and external communication materials and digital strategies, including newsletters, social media, intranet content, emails, and presentations.
  • Crisis Communication: Lead crisis communication efforts, including scenario planning, risk assessment, and mitigation, bringing together the right constituents to ensure timely and effective messaging.
  • Collaboration & Thought Partnership: Work closely with senior leadership and various departments to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging. Establish and develop materials to contextualize, explain, and promote Perrigo’s priorities. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including media outlets, industry influencers, and business partners.
  • Culture: Working with Human Resources, develop initiatives to promote a positive company culture and increase employee engagement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor and analyze industry trends to identify opportunities and risks for the company’s communication strategy. Stay updated on emerging communication technologies and trends, incorporating innovative approaches to enhance communication effectiveness.
  • Measurement: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal communication strategies and adjust as needed.
  • Leadership: Lead all internal and external non-financial communication initiatives, including media relations and public relations.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a global team of communication professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Develop and execute a Communications Partnership model with Global Functions and Businesses through oversight on content creation, strategy/priority, along with customer communications and industry associations.
  • Executive Presence: Serve as a spokesperson for the company, representing its interests in media interviews, public speaking engagements, and industry events.

Experience & Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate communications, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the CPG industry.
  • Proven experience in corporate communications, with a track record of successfully leading and executing communication strategies in a complex organization.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive and impactful messaging for various audiences.
  • Expertise in media relations and crisis communication, with the ability to handle sensitive issues and navigate challenging situations.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach and ability to analyze data and trends to drive effective communication strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing budgets and resources effectively.
  • Familiarity with digital communication platforms and tools.
  • Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks related to corporate communication.
