### About the Vice President of Communications Opening

The Vice President of Communications will be responsible for leading the development and execution of strategies to amplify SPN’s mission, values, benefits, and impact.

Building on the past success of the organization’s communications, the VP will lead efforts to take SPN into its next level of growth. The VP will develop and implement marketing and communications plans aligned with the organization’s 4-year vision and objectives (launching in 2025), which include significantly elevating the voice of SPN and the Network’s impact.

Managing a team of 5+ communications and marketing professionals, the Vice President will spearhead cross-team collaboration to ensure cohesive and effective branding across every facet of the organization. This person will be a driving force to ensure stories of SPN and the Network’s impact resonate with target audiences – especially the media, donors, and our Network. This individual will report to the Senior Vice President and play an integral role on SPN’s leadership team.

This position can be based in SPN’s Arlington, VA headquarters or in a virtual office anywhere in the United States.

– **Team Leadership**: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of communications and marketing professionals. Create a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
– **Organization Leadership**: Engage as a member of the leadership team, offering strategic counsel based on your communications and marketing experience.
– **Public Relations**: Oversee media outreach and external communications to enhance SPN and our Network’s reputation. Monitor relevant news trends and execute on opportunities to raise SPN’s profile with key audiences. Serve as SPN’s on-the-record spokesperson.
– **Brand Management**: Oversee our brand strategy and ensure consistent messaging and standards across all channels.
– **Budget Management**: Develop and manage the marketing and communications budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and maximum return on investment.
– **Measurement and Evaluation**: Establish metrics and key performance indicators to track the effectiveness of our communications efforts. Monitor and analyze data to optimize strategies and tactics for maximum impact and reach.
– **Network Leadership**: Learn from the best practices of SPN’s affiliates and partners, help them learn from one another, and cultivate a spirit of network collaboration and camaraderie.

### What You Will Bring

– 10+ years of experience in marketing and communications
– Excellent leadership and team management abilities
– Strategic and innovative thinking with a strong attention to detail
– A demonstrated track record of increasing and promoting an organization’s visibility and reach to key audiences
– Demonstrated success in media relations, including developing media relationships, securing press coverage, managing media inquiries, and speaking to reporters on television and radio
– Experience in fast-paced environments, including crisis communications
– A strong understanding of digital marketing tools, including social media platforms, content management systems, and analytics tools
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to communicate complex ideas to varied audiences
– A passion for free markets and federalism
– Ability to travel 20% of the year
– Experience in the liberty movement or working on public policy/advocacy issues is helpful but not required
