Public Affairs Council Hires John Brandt to Manage New Policy Communications and Corporate Responsibility Practice

WASHINGTON — The Public Affairs Council is pleased to announce that John Brandt has been hired as the Council’s practice manager for policy communications and corporate responsibility.

This is a new position that addresses the increased demand for learning opportunities and executive education on risk, crisis and policy communications and corporate responsibility (CR), and expands the organization’s successful communications and CR practice areas.

Prior to his hire, Brandt was the associate director for communications at George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management, where he developed an integrated communications strategy to highlight the school’s applied politics and communications research. Brandt also played a pivotal role in crafting and publicizing the school’s efforts to enhance civic discourse through political engagement. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Capitol Hill producer for the D.C. bureau of Fox News Washington. He holds an MBA from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Ohio State University.

“We’ve seen demand rise for training and programs on risk, crisis and policy communications and corporate responsibility. No matter the circumstance, powerful and concise communications makes a difference,” said Council Vice President Chris Bender. “We’re excited that John’s understanding of the political environment, and his ability to look around the corner and see what’s coming, will grow our executive education and expertise offerings for members.”

“With direct experience leading a communications function and working in a fast-paced news bureau, John has the desired skill set to lead this new practice area,” said Council President Doug Pinkham. “The expertise John brings will make him a strong leader and resource for the public affairs community.”
