Public Affairs Council Promotes Senior Leaders to Drive Next Phase of Growth
Kristin Brackemyre and Laura Horsley Elevated to Lead Member Success and Strategic Communications
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Public Affairs Council today announced the promotion of Kristin Brackemyre to Vice President of Member Success & Practice and Laura Horsley, CAE, to Vice President of Strategic Communications and Marketing.
In her new role, Brackemyre will lead the Council’s approach to member success, professional development, and industry practice leadership. She will oversee member retention and advance the Council’s learning offerings and relationship-driven engagement initiatives. Brackemyre launched the Council’s game-changing Membership Plus+ program and helped more than double executive education attendance during her tenure. Previously, she led the Council’s public affairs practice team and served as the lead expert on U.S. public affairs, government relations, and political engagement programming. Before joining the Council in 2017, she held leadership positions in PAC management and political affairs at the Consumer Technology Association and the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
In her new role, Horsley will serve as the Council’s senior communications and marketing strategist, overseeing the integration of communications, marketing, events, and digital functions to strengthen the brand, deepen member engagement, and expand visibility across audiences. She has led the Council’s transformation plan, including a highly successful rebrand and expanded visibility through significant growth in media coverage and research. Prior to joining the Council in 2016, she held leadership roles in marketing and communications at the American Society of Interior Designers and the Building Owners and Managers Association International.
“Kristin and Laura have both been integral to the Council’s success,” said Public Affairs Council President & CEO Nneka Chiazor. “Kristin is a trusted public affairs strategist who brings innovation and credibility to the profession, and Laura is a brand and growth strategist who pairs keen insight with disciplined execution—bringing clarity, momentum, and cohesion to how we operate. At a pivotal moment for the public affairs profession, I am confident that these two leaders—distinct in their strengths and formidable together—will help define the Council’s next era of growth, impact, and leadership.”
The promotions support the Council’s strategic direction under Chiazor, who became President & CEO one year ago. Additional announcements related to new programming, governance updates, and staff hires will be shared in the coming months.
