As an ambitious and self-directed individual, Senior Business leaders in Mercer look to you in this US & Canada (US&C) Engagement Manager role to identify, own, and direct delivery of key strategic and operational initiatives covering process, people, and technology for the organization.

As a passionate change agent with an analytical mind and an eye for detail, you will drive the analysis, design, and execution of business-enhancing solutions in a team environment.

We challenge you to bring big ideas, push us beyond the status quo, and deliver collaboratively using your direct team and matrix subject matter experts. Reporting directly to the Global Transformation & Change Leader, the accountability you hold in this US&C Engagement Manager role brings increased client satisfaction, real margin improvement, and opportunity for increased revenue to the table for our businesses, customers, and clients.

We will count on you to:

  • Own and drive day-to-day strategic and operational initiatives– Your scope puts you at the helm of bringing business advantage from ideation to successful execution. Representative examples of strategic initiatives include:
    • Growth strategies across B2B, B2C, etc.
    • Digital Product Creation
    • Go-to-Market Strategies
    • M&A Diligence
    • Business Rationalization
    • Cost Opportunity Assessments
    • Among many others.
  • Work collaboratively to deliver total solutions by tapping into partnerships with the COO, US & Canada, the global Technology, Digital, Transformation, and Change teams, and other leaders across O&T, bringing diverse, comprehensive solutions to life.
  • “Head the table” for identified projects. Align your and your team’s actions to ensure strategic objectives are well communicated, coordinated and complementary in scope and time.
  • Be a lightning rod for new ideas. Seek and be open to receive new ideas across all channels of discovery. Act as an integrator and communicator, synthesize findings into strategic solution presentations.
  • Be the voice to inspire change. Create insights into trends or technology that are shaping markets. Tap into SMEs across the business to build a compelling value proposition for change and fearlessly present recommendations to obtain buy-in from stakeholders.
  • Lead with value at the forefront. Liaise closely with Business/Geography Leaders along with Finance to ensure financial viability and business case benefits.

  • Use your deep prior experience to light the way. Work to eliminate surprises and establish strong governance and oversight for each initiative to ensure the flow of information and supporting materials well in advance of decision points.
  • Lead with action. When organizational gaps exist, you may be asked to provide interim leadership and thus preserve and promote momentum until a suitable backfill is named – which could be you.

Key Requirements/Skills:

  • Razor-sharp emotional intelligence – build, maintain and enhance genuine relationships at all levels of the firm and across all organizational boundaries.
  • Change management expertise – use principles of change management to influence how you work and lead to drive sustainable changes in the organization.
  • Developed communication and diplomacy skills – guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues & leaders in multiple businesses, and occasionally, external customers.
  • Highly resourceful with outstanding problem-solving skills – drive innovative approaches to outcomes.
  • Fiercely organized – manage a complex ever-changing priority list and resolve conflicts between competing needs.
  • Analytical and quantitative to a fault – use facts and insights to shape direction.
  • Able to harness the power of “we” – recognized as a strong, capable and empathetic leader. Lead with the mindset that your success comes through engaging and empowering others.
  • 7+ years experience with professional services. Experience in Operations or Digital a plus.
  • 3+ years experience in strategic / managerial consulting preferred.
  • MBA preferred.
