NAHB Seeks Vice President to Manage BUILD-PAC

NAHB seeks a vice president to manage its federal political action committee, BUILD-PAC. The qualified candidate will develop and implement strategic fundraising initiatives to meet BUILD-PAC’s $3.25 million fundraising goal and expand NAHB member participation in BUILD-PAC. The candidate will oversee BUILD-PAC’s Congressional disbursement strategy and all necessary Federal Election Commission (FEC) compliance. This position manages the day-to-day operations of the government affairs department, including budgeting and general operations. NAHB seeks a strong leader who thrives in a team environment and can prioritize competing projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the primary liaison with the BUILD-PAC leadership.
  • Oversees the management of BUILD-PAC’s officers and 150-member Board of Trustees.
  • Manages all FEC compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Directs all BUILD-PAC’s fundraising strategies and programs including donor retention, growing participation, PAC High Donor Clubs, and state and local fundraising across the federation.
  • Oversees BUILD-PAC’s disbursements strategy including a complex congressional rating system.
  • Directs NAHB’s congressional endorsements program.
  • Works across the association with key volunteer leaders and staff to ensure BUILD-PAC is an intricate part of the NAHB federation.
  • Serves as a liaison to the political party committees.
  • Strategizes with Government Affairs senior staff to enhance NAHB’s political presence.
  • Supervises three direct reports to ensure the execution of BUILD-PAC goals and compliance.
  • Tracks, develops, and maintains the Government Affairs budget.
  • Manages day-to-day operations of the Government Affairs department.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A minimum of 10 years prior political fundraising and PAC management experience is required.
  • Knowledge of FEC compliance and regulations.
  • Knowledge of federal government affairs is preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented with great organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the MS Office Suite, as well as PAC database and compliance software, is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in political science, business administration or a related field is required.
