Description
The Communications organization of Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a highly skilled communications professional to join our team in implementing dynamic communications practices, including strategic planning, digital communications, employee and executive communications, and special events.
Reporting to the Strike Communications director, this role is responsible for executive and employee communications for restricted and unclassified employee audiences. Additional areas of focus include:
- Contributing to internal and external communications initiatives for U.S. DoD programs.
- Planning and executing messaging for a variety of employee audiences.
- Developing collateral materials and internal web content for classified and unclassified audiences.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate has demonstrated skill in developing strategic communications plans as well as coordinating, developing, and executing content creation for scripts, digital, print, multimedia, and other materials. Additional responsibilities include:
Executive Communications
- Supporting executive leaders with employee engagement to communicate business objectives and strategy, and drive engagement and retention.
- Developing messaging and content aligned with business needs and a plan to maximize engagement throughout the year across diverse work locations.
- Identifying and preparing subject matter experts and leaders to serve as company spokespeople.
Channel Strategy and Innovative, Targeted Approaches
- Implementing a variety of channels to reach audiences including unclassified, restricted, and touch labor across the United States.
- Utilizing oral, digital, written, and multimedia approaches.
Compelling Storytelling
- Identifying standout teams and amplifying how they embody our culture, technological innovation, and pioneering spirit.
Enterprise Approach
- Collaborating across functions and sectors to ensure regular exchange of information to support consistent messaging.
- Sharing communications practices and supporting enterprise events.
- Managing alignment of communications planning and execution for corporate and sector initiatives and measurement objectives.
- Driving communications processes and operations both internally and externally.
This is an ideal position for a high-energy, creative, self-motivated professional who can manage priorities in a dynamic environment to meet commitments. This full-time position is based in Melbourne, Florida, or Palmdale, California, and reports to the communications director.
Basic Qualifications
Associate Principal Public Relations Representative (Level 1)
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, public affairs, or a similar field.
- 0 years of related experience in organizational communications, leadership consultation, or communication strategy development and deployment.
- Active DoD Secret Clearance updated within the last five years.
- Ability to obtain and maintain special program access within a reasonable timeframe.
- U.S. citizenship.
Principal Public Relations Representative (Level 2)
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, public affairs, or a similar field with 2 years of experience OR a Master’s degree with 0 years of related experience.
- Active DoD Secret Clearance updated within the last five years.
- Ability to obtain and maintain special program access within a reasonable timeframe.
- U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Confident communicator with the ability to present concepts orally.
- Superior organization, project management, and time management skills.
- Strong decision-making ability and attention to detail.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate and gain consensus.
- Proven track record of supporting senior executives, including acting as a strategic advisor and providing communications support at internal and external events.
- Experience working in the U.S. Department of Defense industry with a basic understanding of DoD business.
- Experience in technology-based communication, web design, and creation is a bonus.
Salary Range
- $52,800 – $91,800
- Level 2: $63,800 – $110,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers several factors when determining base salary offers, including:
- Scope and responsibilities of the position.
- Candidate’s experience, education, and skills.
- Current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
