Are you a policy expert ready to shape national financial regulations and advocate for franchised auto dealers? NADA is looking for a Vice President of Regulatory Affairs to lead federal engagement on vehicle finance, credit, and related services. In this position, you’ll work with agencies like the FTC, Federal Reserve, and CFPB, while guiding strategic initiatives and supporting dealer compliance.

This is a full-time position with a collaborative work culture, competitive salary, and excellent benefits. Duties require travel up to 30% of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as NADA’s lead on regulatory issues related to vehicle finance, credit, and related financial services and engage on other federal regulatory issues affecting dealer operations.
  • Monitor, analyze, and respond to regulatory developments from federal agencies such as the FTC, Federal Reserve, CFPB, and Department of the Treasury.
  • Advocate on behalf of franchised auto dealers before regulatory agencies, including drafting formal comments, white papers, and legal memoranda.
  • Provide legal and strategic guidance to NADA leadership on regulatory policy and compliance matters.
  • Represent NADA in high-level meetings with regulators, coalition partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with other internal departments and external partners to support NADA’s broader public policy goals.
  • Educate members and stakeholders through presentations, issue briefs, webinars, and compliance tools.
  • Supervise and mentor regulatory staff as assigned and assist in managing departmental operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school, with active membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant legal or regulatory experience, with significant expertise in vehicle finance or consumer financial services.
  • In-depth knowledge of key federal statutes and regulations, including TILA, ECOA, FCRA, GLBA, FTC Act, and the Dodd-Frank Act.
  • Demonstrated experience in federal rulemaking and regulatory advocacy.
  • Background working with or within trade associations, federal agencies, law firms, or corporate legal departments.
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly to non-legal audiences.
  • Experience in staff supervision or mentoring preferred.
  • Familiarity with federal tax and environmental policy issues as they relate to dealerships is a plus.
