Job Summary

Political engagement professional who will execute all aspects of Finseca’s political activities. Work with the Advocacy team and member leadership to implement and develop political programs, including fundraising and member education. Manager will be responsible for managing an extensive grassroots portfolio, including fundraising, coordinating legislative meetings, identifying and recruiting new advocates from the Finseca membership, and developing them into high-quality political advocates. Will plan and execute political trainings and our annual fly-in. Other projects as necessary.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Execution of Finseca’s Ambassador Program and political advocacy strategy for Finseca’s growing membership. The Ambassador Program is Finseca’s political engagement program designed to build grasstops relationships with policymakers for our members. Core program responsibilities are:
    • Schedule and execute, including being responsible for fundraising event goals and doing individual fundraising outreach to specific goals
    • Work with external partners (Congressional staff, fundraisers) to facilitate meetings with Ambassadors and policymakers
    • Recruit and develop new Finseca Ambassadors and donors to meet specific goals
    • Develop strategies and opportunities to increase member engagement, advocacy activities, and opportunities
  • Communicate with members to provide political and legislative updates
  • Work across the Association to increase member awareness of Finseca’s political programs through membership communication pieces, website materials, Finseca meetings and events, etc.
  • Track legislative developments as they relate to the financial security profession and the political environment overall
  • Support federal and state teams in their legislative and policy strategies and engagements
  • Utilize the database to record all political activities including contributions, legislative meetings, individualized plans and ensuring accurate and thorough records are kept
  • Comfortable attending various political fundraising events on behalf of Finseca
  • Draft and deploy grassroots activations, donor drives, and other membership-wide initiatives
  • Other duties as required

Skills & Experience

  • 4–8 years’ work experience in political operations, political/PAC fundraising, or campaign setting
  • Strong political fundraising background, including event management, individual fundraising (soliciting both large and small dollar contributions), and donor maintenance/relationship building
  • Expertise in building relationships with members, policymakers, and other key stakeholders
  • Ability to plan advocacy events in Washington, DC, and various districts and states throughout the year, and manage engagement strategy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable with public speaking
  • Independent worker with good judgment and strong attention to detail
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Experience with Quorum, BGOV, or CRMs a plus

Education

  • College degree required

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Some travel is expected for this position.

This is a full-time, exempt position. Salary commensurate with experience.
