In this position, we’re looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced Senior Specialist to join our Government Affairs team in Washington, D.C. This role is central to supporting our policy development and communications efforts, managing our political engagement activities, ensuring strict compliance with lobbying and campaign finance laws, and coordinating high-level executive and external events.
Responsibilities
What you’ll do:
As a Senior Specialist, you will be responsible for a variety of critical tasks, including:
Stakeholder Communications:
Develop content and manage recipient lists for email communications directed towards Capitol Hill using BGov. Draft and publish items for internal company communications platforms. Attend and support weekly policy communications meetings.
Policy Support Functions:
Provide essential support across policy coordination initiatives, including developing and updating key policy documents, drafting and editing weekly reports, and coordinating Government Affairs submissions to monthly business review meetings. Maintain official protocols and formatting standards for communications directed towards Congress and the Administration.
Senior Executive Visit Support:
Provide logistical support for visits and meetings involving senior executives. This includes scheduling, liaising with executive support staff, coordinating meals, drivers, route planning, and preparing briefing materials.
Federal PAC Management:
Manage our federal Political Action Committee (PAC), including overseeing budgets, executing donation strategies, liaising with fundraisers, planning events, and handling reporting and compliance.
Federal Affairs Support:
Support direct lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill concerning various policy issues (e.g., Right to Repair). Attend relevant industry committee meetings.
Lobbying Disclosure Act Compliance:
Serve as the main point of contact for Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA) compliance. Lead quarterly LD-2 reporting (lobbying issues, adding/removing federal lobbyists, managing external consultant reports) and LD-203 reporting (tracking individual and company PAC contributions).
Policy Polling & Analysis:
Lead the Government Affairs team’s contribution to monthly consumer pulse surveys, collaborating with policy teams to research and develop questions, analyze survey results, and prepare reports for leadership and business reviews.
Annual Political Engagement Reporting:
Gather information, draft, format, and publish the annual corporate political activity report, aligning with CPA-Zicklin Index and ESG standards. Coordinate with the team on the company’s Integrated Sustainability Report.
Executive Meeting Support:
Attend and take detailed notes for executive policy meetings, including monthly policy meetings.
Event Support:
Serve as the primary Government Affairs coordinator for Washington D.C.-area events, including ride-and-drives, EV showcases, and policy-focused auto show activities.
Congressional Constituent Inquiry Response:
Act as the primary contact with the Congressional Research Service (CRS) for constituent issues, assigning requests to internal customer service or dealer relations teams for resolution.
Qualifications
You’ll have:
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience in government affairs, public policy, or related fields with exposure to political engagement and compliance.
Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills for professional reports, briefings, presentations, and external communications.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience coordinating logistics and preparing materials for senior executives.
Experience managing or contributing to corporate PAC activities, including budgets, donations, events, and compliance.
Understanding of the Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA) and related reporting (LD-2, LD-203).
Experience with policy research, data analysis, and legislative tracking.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
Familiarity with government affairs tools and platforms.

Salary grade range: SG5–SG7
