Public Policy Advisor-Indigenous Relations
Position Description
The Capitol Hill Policy Group, a premier federal government relations firm located in Washington, D.C., is currently recruiting for a Public Policy Advisor – Indigenous Relations. The Public Policy Advisor will have experience working on Capitol Hill and interact primarily with the firm’s Managing Principals. Communication with other Firm personnel, clients, and people outside of the Firm will be required to accomplish the duties of the position.
Responsibilities
· Assist with federal government relations representation on issues relating to American Indian and Alaska Native Affairs, Aviation, Commerce and Economic Development, Environment and Natural Resources, Tax Policy, Telecommunications, Transportation, and other matters relating to the Congress, White House, and Executive Branch;
· Conduct legislative and/or fact research and compile analysis and summaries of information for internal and/or client benefit;
· Assist with the monitoring and reporting of legislative, regulatory, industry and/or client-based areas of interest;
· Other related duties as may be assigned in support of the Firm’s clients.
Experience & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree required;
· Prior experience with American Indian and Alaska Native issues is required, including direct experience working with Indigenous nations, tribes, and Native-owned businesses;
· Prior experience working for the Congress or Executive Branch is preferred;
· Professional demeanor and strong verbal, written, time management, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential;
· Strong sense of good judgment and independence;
· Well-developed analytical, research and problem-solving skills;
· Capacity to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines with precision and attention to detail;
· Proficient in MS Office Suite and related applications;
· Willing to engage in national travel as may be needed.
