## Position Description & Responsibilities

Vanda, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of novel therapies to address high unmet medical needs and improve the lives of patients, is looking for a talented individual to interact with local, state, and federal legislative bodies and government agencies to represent and protect the organization’s business plans and interests.

## Key Areas of Responsibility Include

– **Government activity monitoring** — Researches and monitors government activities that could affect the organization’s business and clients.
– **Drafting correspondence** — Drafts and edits related correspondence.
– **Meeting logistics** — Coordinates and supports the logistics of meetings and engagements.
– **Regulatory strategic planning** — Assists senior management and leadership with strategic planning for known and potential regulatory activities related to the business and industry.
– **Government relationship building** — Builds and maintains professional relationships with members of federal, state, and local government entities and agencies.
– **Industry collaboration** — Collaborates with industry advocates to build areas of common interest.
– **Policy change introduction** — Introduces legislative and public policy changes that will support company operations.
– **Additional duties** — Performs other duties as required.

## Position Requirements

– **Education** — Undergraduate or graduate degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Public Relations, or related field required.
– **Experience** — 2+ years of experience in advocacy or public policy required.
– **Communication skills** — Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
– **Adaptability** — Self‑motivated; ability to adapt within a dynamic environment.
– **Interpersonal skills** — Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
– **Government contacts** — Strong government contacts at local, state, and federal levels are desirable but not required.
– **Analytical skills** — Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
– **Technical proficiency** — Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
– **Multitasking** — Ability to multitask, work independently, and set own priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
– **Essential functions** — Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation; reasonable accommodations will be provided for qualified individuals with disabilities unless doing so would impose undue hardship.

## Compensation & Benefits

The total compensation package for this position will also include incentive compensation and benefits such as health insurance, unlimited paid time off, parental leave, a 401k matching program, and other benefits to its employees.
